A very loving couple.. who are open to talk to each other. People who are more interested in their partner's happiness than their own. People who are truly in love and are serious about the commitment to be together for a lifetime. People who have fun together as well as separately.

I don't think there are any absolute rules about what a marriage consists of. To me, on the most basic level, it is a "domestic partnership" which means two people who share a home and shoulder the burdens of everyday life as a team, preferable while staying on good terms with each other. To achieve this goal, a marriage needs, communication, understanding, patience, compromise, trust, selflessness and many other noble qualities that we humans often have a hard time cultivating. To me a real marriage is when you love the other person "warts and all" and when you also accept that there are days or week or even longer periods when you DON'T love them because going through the daily grind with them is so hard but, no matter how long those times last, you know you will stick it out because you know how deep your commitment is.

It should consist of 2 people who love and respect each other, despite realizing that each other is not perfect. They need to accept each other flaws and all. Unfortunately most marriages consist of 2 people who were infatuated with one another, think they know one another, and think only of what the marriage can do for them.

Trust, Loyalty, Honor, Happiness, Sadness, Love, Fear, Hope, Dreams, Communication, Romance, Comfortable silence, Every aspect of life shared by two people. Two people with opinions that may not match but can communicate through their differences. Marriage is far from easy it is but the companionship can be worth it as long as both are willing to put forth the effort.

Friendship
Communication
Love
Trust
Compromise

If you don't have a strong friendship with your partner then you won't have a very long marriage. Neither person are mind readers so they have to communicate. Trust in the person and let the person be able to trust you. Compromise, compromise, compromise. No one can get there way all the time. Each person has to be willing to meet in the middle some times.

I think marriage is all about two people who are connected on a level beyond anything else. It is far from an easy thing but it is wonder full when it is a happy and healthy situation. You can always count on each other, no matter what life may throw your way!!

A lot of hard (and I mean HARD!) work, understanding, and giving the other person the benefit of the doubt. Love makes it easier to deal with living with someone who is not like you. The more you have in common, the better off you'll be, but you can also find new things to be interested in together. Most of all, it takes being willing to stick it out in the bad times.

Ok I was married for 30 years, he was never honest with me, so trust has to be one of the things for the foundation of a marriage, a husband and wife is good to add to the picture.

Two people who can accept each others flaws may not like them but accept them lol. Two people who are willing to be faithful and love each other till death do them part. Two people who share each and every idea or thought with the person they love. Someone to eat with and laugh with and cry with. Someone to fight with but also make up as well.

Trust and the wiliness to give things up for the one you love. Give and take is a big thing. You can't expect one person to do all the giving and the other person just take take take.

Also LOVE!!!
