I am a older woman so anything since I was about 50 when I looked for a job they would act like I shouldn't know anything about computers.
It didn't really affect me much, I explained I had been using computer since 1975 and had done tech support for 11 years.
Stereotypes aren't always wrong many older women weren't good with computers 10 years ago when I was 50. Sometimes it is the teens that spray paint things that belong to other people and steal cars. Not all teens but enough that if I saw 13-16 year old boys out at 3 AM I would wonder what they were up to. When I was a teen that age at 3 AM we were delivering the morning paper.

I have been stereotyped by my race. I was labeled as someone who was lazy, uneducated, & not financially stable. I have had several people assume this about me & my culture. In return, it has made me want to be a better person to prove them wrong & at times I resented my culture. I was young when I started to hate the people of my culture who proved these stereotypes, but I now understand fully that not "everyone" who had the same background are lazy, uneducated people. I'm proud of where I come from & glad that small minded people do not affect me negatively anymore.

Yes! When I was in sixth grade, and I was going to a Montessori school, I was known as the "tough jock" type. Being female, it was a little strange, but I didn't mind too much after a while.
Then I went to public school for seventh grade - there was literally nobody from my elementary school. My 'reputation' was completely erased because I didn't know anyone. Now, I am still adjusting to the complete change, but I've been able to deal with it.

yep they assume whites don't have needs and that everyone else is needy
supposedly we're all rich, priviledged, people bend over backwards and make allowences for us, tests are skewed in our favor, we don't need any help, medical care, programs, jobs etc. Everything is handed to us. We're guilty of committing racism and slavery just because of the color of our skin. As a woman we're expected to be quiet, stupid, obedient, etc. Especially white women. They think we're all kept housewives and don't know true suffering. Everything we go through is trivialized and ignored.
I've seen my son stereotyped. When he became a teenager he was followed around every store by an employee or security. They did it to all teens. It really hurt him and made him angry.
I've had to go without many things for many years on end because I'm not part of a group seen as needy and deserving so I'm invisible and they put me off for years. I have permanent damage to my health because of it.

Even though I'm white, people in high school thought I was Native American due to my black hair and olive skin tone. They weren't very kind about it, either. One kid joked about killing me, but part of me thinks it wasn't entirely a joke. He sounded like he meant it. I still get the shakes thinking about the scumbag.

I'm black so that should answer your question. I have been hurt many times by how people label me and group all black people in the same bag, we are just as individual as anyone else, all are not the same.
