I'm so sorry for your loss. I have lost 9 babies myself but mine were always farther along and I had to have what is called a D and C. If your hormone levels go back to normal they will not need to do anything to clean out your uterus.
Talk to the doctor and ask how they want to proceed. If you can avoid a D & C that is good. If they feel it necessary then ask that they do it in a facility where they can give you a little bit of sedation.
They will go through the vagina and open the cervix and clean everything out. Unless your hormone levels are not returning to normal they may be able to avaoid doing this.
I hope you have some one to talk to to help you through this. The grieving process is different for everyone and I pray you will have peace.
Blessings
For some of the previous responders. There is no such thing as "hardly" pregnant and yes it did matter nevermind how tiny - How heartless some of you sound!

My sister has miscarried twice then went on to have two normal pregnancies. The first time they left her as was early like you but the second time she went in to get a D and C I think It's called where they put you out and clear everything away. It didn't hurt but they don't need to do it everytime, if you were bleeding lots you are probably OK. Good luck for the future, don't feel too downhearted, there is still lots of hope.
(Can I add that I bled heavily throughout both my pregnancies and was told a few times I had probably miscarried when I hadn't. Make sure you get proper medical advice and thorough medical checks).

Yes, a miscarriage may feel like a heavier period with passage of clots. Many women becomes pregnant and then have a late period without even knowing they were even pregnant.
You do not need to be clean out unless there are complications...severe or prolong bleeding, weakness, dizziness, cramps and pain, fever, etc. Sounds like your bleeding stop, so no worries. Now, if you want to get pregnant again wait about 1-2 months or so, take PNV now. If you do not want to be pregnant, get birth control.
If we need to, we can do a D+C dilate and curett the uterus if you have retained placenta and product of conception. This is done under anesthesia. We don't clean your vagina out.

It's called a D & C and generally it's done under anaesthesia so you don't feel it much. The most dangerous thing about spontaneous miscarriages is that you could get an infection. Otherwise, 6 weeks is hardly pregnant and the miscarriage would most likely have been more like a super heavy period so you might be okay. If you are concerned about going to the doctor (and you really shouldn't be because it is about your health and safety), you could just watch yourself to ensure that you aren't getting infected. Like if your boobs start aching, see a doctor. D&C is generally done on an outpatient basis these days. So, you could go and have one and have someone stay with you for a day or so (and have them drive you) and you'll most likely be fine.

What they do in essence is give you a d/c. This is the same procedure that you would have for an abortion. The crevix is dialated and your uterus is sucked clean. There is however a pill that can perorm the same task. However, as for a miscarrage, they might not need to do either one due to your body expelling the baby on its on. Hey Im no doc or nurse so please consult. You can call any hospital and speak w/ someone on their nurse hotline. Sorry for your loss.

this happened to me i bled alot and i went to the doctors they did an ultrasound to see if anything was left and there was some stuff but they said just in case if there wasn't anything left i would still have to do a dnc which is basically scraping the uterus walls you have to be an outpatient and it will hurt for a day or so and it takes at least two weeks for your body to fully heal.

I miscarried at about 10 weeks and never did anything about it - got pregnant a year later and it was all fine. You can go for a hoover job but apparently its not always necessary as its perfectly natural to have early foetal ejection without any mishaps.

You really should have a D&C it is much better to make certain that everything came out . Better to be safe then sorry . They will give you pain pills and will be sleeping during D&C . Also if you do want to get pregnant again it will make it easier .
