Special interest groups trade money for favors and they do it any way they can within the law or without getting caught. They want to influence where some of the Govt. money goes to satisfy their needs. They are purely self-serving. Does that help?

obviously because they have an 'interest'.
they support those appointees who agree with thier philosophy (for example: anti-abortion, the environment, saving the spotted gecko, whatever) or can be influenced by money and who therefore will likely implement policies that promote thier 'interest'.
