If you have an immersion switch you can or a combi boiler, most people have at least an immersion switch. this will give you at least a tank of hot water until its filled/heated up again.

There are very few combi's will operate with the heating drained, the conventional system cannot be run with heating drained. The installation manual will tell you if a combi can be run while drained (depends on make). Isolate the radiator in question, and refill system.

no dont turn on boiler if there is no water in it , cos it will go POP!, is it an oil boiler or gas?
isolate rad at valve at each side of the unit and refill system, bleed radiators and then switch on.
has he turned the water of to the copper cylinder? easy way to find out is turn on the hot tap, if water comes out then its on, have you got an imersion heater . ie an electric coil , like a kettle coil in your copper cylinder? if so this should be ok to use

NO ......... Use your immersion heater if you have one.
When you get new radiator make sure that you put inhibitor into the system, it prevents internal rusting, the reason that your radiator rusted in the first place was that the installer saved £15 for his own booze
A good one is FERNOX

its depent to ur heating system . some heating system are septrate..like if you turn on heating system which works with boiling water it may be switched off but u'll still get hot water .u should check your heating system if you living in building it should be central heating then. so the heating system might not work but you will have boiling water . but if you are living in private property you heating system and hot water are propably 1 so ..both dont work
