I consider the late John Denver more of a folk singer but he was good at it.

John Denver (December 31, 1943 – October 12, 1997), born Henry John Deutschendorf, Jr., was an American folk singer-songwriter and folk rock musician who was one of the most popular artists of the 1970s. He recorded and released some 300 songs, about half of which he had composed, and was named Poet Laureate of Colorado in 1977.

ohhhhhhhhh..you know, I think I get really confused when there are so many different classifications. I always thought John Denver was a folk singer, pure and simple but it seems that I see his name more an more often in the country genre. Same goes for Anne Murray, I grew up listening to her but I never thought she was country. Does that mean they have crossed over if people that normally listen to country artists listen to them or does it mean that country stations play them? I'm soooooooooo confused!...lol

I remember him as country. But since his death I found out that he's more of the folk singer type. Who a thunk??

He wasn't country....but a lot of country radio stations played his stuff.

folk after not making it rock kinda gald he did not make in rock he has same good songs
