No, it does not mean you have cancer. It means you have the precursor for cervical cancer. It's like you have the desirable conditions to get cervical cancer , most likely HPV. Please keep up with your pap smears. Usually after 2 abnormal paps a colposcopy is done to get more samples to send to the lab to test. Don't worry. It seems like you and your doctor are on top of the problem, and that is the best way to help yourself.

no, atypical cells doesn't necessarily mean cancer, if it did, your doctor would be sending you to a specialist for treatment. It just means you have some cells on your pap that do not appear normal, and that is all it means. Many women have abnormal cells and it doesn't mean jack, all it should mean to anyone is a need to monitor your paps more frequently, like twice a year instead of once a year. Relax.

It's common to have atypical cells and it doesn't mean you have cancer. There are different types of atypical readings. If it looked like cancer, they would be doing additional tests.

HPV produces a special type of atypical reading, and if that's what they saw, they would probably be ordering a colposcopy.

So, nothing to worry about. It's not one of the "scary" atypical readings. They will probably want you to get more frequent pap tests to keep an eye on it.

BTW, cervical inflammation and blood can cause atypical readings. Other non-scary things can as well.

It doesn't mean that you have cancer dear, but please get that checked out by a gynecologist because of the abnormalities just as a safety precaution. You may have dysplasia or lesions on your cervix that can be easily removed by the LEEP procedure. Or it could just be systematic error of the paps smear. I've had this happen to me once , that's why the trip to the gynecologist is vital. Just know that dysplasia if not treated is the precursor for HPV which can cause cervical cancer if left untreated. I don't mean to scare but, I have experienced this. I hope I helped :)
