Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez, retired Iraq commander, speech at the Military Reporters & Editors convention, Fri 10/12, was widely covered by the national press and TV. Their reporting all focused on his criticism of the Bush administration for inadequate strategy and prosecution of the war.

Yet 60% of his speech was a condemnation of the media. Press and TV. Neither the New York Times nor Associated Press reported this. Nor did CBS radio news hourly updates on Sat

Sanchez said that the media have lost their sense of ethics. That members of the media blow stories out of proportion and are unwilling to correct mistakes, that this media environment is doing a great disservice to the nation.

He further said “you report with total impunity and are rarely held accountable for unethical conduct and the truth is of little to no value if it does not fit your own preconceived notions, biases and agendas.

His comments were a scathing condemnation of the press yet went unreported. Why

Wow, what a surprise. The anti America media? Who would have thought they would be biased. We can no longer call it the "news" media. There is no news at all. Just propaganda. They should just turn it all over to mikey moore. At least he is comical.

That's not was the press wanted you to hear!

They are going to broadcast only the sound bites that support their conclusions: the war is lost, the effort is senseless, and our soldiers need to be sent home.

Gen. Sanchez offered plenty of these! Maybe Karl Rove wrote the speech for the General because the media paint GWB with the "stupid" brush any chance they get! *laughter*

(I apologize for calling you a dingbat if you are a close personal friend of Gen.Sanchez and learned about this from him at dinner last night...LOL)
