I think the statement should be,
Fathers must be accountable and people must educate themselves and speak like educated people to succeed.
Have you seen the language skills on this sight? I won't even mention the spelling.

Nothing is wrong with what Dr. Cosby says. He is a fine role model for the black community and I think a lot of black families (at least the ones i know) embrace his message. I am proud to be from the same city as Bill Cosby and proud to have met him once (way back in 1978)!

Not a darn thing. Bill Cosby did more to erase the lines of prejudice than any other entertainer. He showed by this actions that people are people and color doesn't matter.
People don't like looking in the mirror and that is what Bill Cosby is asking them to do.

Personally, I love the man. He is right. However, I do believe things are getting better in the black community. More and more are seeing that education and hard work pays off. I grew up in Detroit so I know that people no matter their color, are as capable as anyone else to succeed in this country.

I love Bill Cosby's message and his cause. But he does sit on a pretty high horse. It's easy to give "tough love" speeches when you have no financial worries.
It's hard for some people to see their way out of a bad situation when they don't even know how bad the situation really is. Katrina should have taught us that.

If "Black America" would follow Bill Cosby's message instead of the likes of Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton they would be so much better off it isn't even funny.

I just think some people feel sensitive being criticized by someone that is so privileged, maybe they think he has lost touch with reality and doesn't really realize how much some black people have to struggle in our society.....it's like he's saying "if you are having difficulty, it's all your own fault" and "you have just has much opportunity as that kid next to you with the rich parents and the trust fund", and that's just not entirely true......
