World War I then, World War II, all the wars that followed the
innocent people and soldiers who died...wasn't a pretty sight.

Why - the saying is if you do not study history you are destine to repeat it. As in, learn from the past mistakes.

Germany invaded France across the Maginot Line in WWI,and also repeated the maneuver in WWII.

Sure. How about rise and fall of Roman Empire, then Ottoman Empire, USSR, United States. Every great civilization is doomed, it's been this way for ages. They can only get so big, before they start degrading and crumbling under their own power.

Napoleon tried to invade Russia in the Caucasus region and failed due to the weather. Hitler made the same mistake by attempting to invade during WWII.
