You could start a club at your school or university, or check and see if there's a local group. I know that the Center for Inquiry has lists of school and college groups for skeptics and freethinkers. So do a few Atheist organizations. Or you could try posting something on meetup.com - I met a few people that way. It's free for a month or two, and that's probably enough time to meet some people. Good luck!

Look for people and groups involved in what you ARE interested in, rather than in what you are NOT interested in. I wouldn't start a club for people uninterested in baseball or alchemy. Don't even rule out churches. You'll still find unbelievers, free thinkers, and skeptics there. Since you're near Notre Dame, keep an eye on their calendar of public lectures and seminars. You'll likely find some on all manner of interesting topics.

You might try looking at craigslist.com. They have a couple of discussion forums that you might find interesting and you can post your nascent organization free as an anouncement.
