My highschool was going to put on the musical "Jesus Christ Super Star" but it got cancelled because of complaints from some parents. We are a public school, there are so many different religons and I think that this musical is a story of Jesus's life put to music (i don't see how that is offenseive). If the people had a problem with it then they don't have to have anything to do with it. It seems to me that they are trying to force their religon on us by calling it blasphemy and taking it away.

i don't think it's fair; would you get the same reaction if you were doing merchent of venice? people nowadays are trying very hard to be polictically correct, but society has gone too far. why are people complaining? i agree that if they don't want to see it, then they just shouldn't show up to the performance.

Frankly, I'm surprised ANYONE is not offended by Jesus Christ Superstar... The Christians should be offended by the trivialization of their Savior's works and suffering, and any other denomination should at least be outraged at the faith's blatant attempt to enter "pop" (i.e. secular,) culture...

It wouldn't offend me... Unless I were forced to watch it, then I'd flip out on somebody double quick!

People, parents not wanting your PUBLIC SCHOOL to include a show (lame or otherwise,) that somehow both insults AND propagandizes a religion DOES NOT QUALIFY AS RELIGIOUS PERSECUTION!!!

Let us know when they start slicing off parts of your body or flogging you with rattan canes unless you deny Christ... Then we'll all agree that you're being persecuted...

And if you can't see how showcasing the life of Jesus in a public school theatre could be offensive... Consider this, how would you feel about a SATANIC play that included blood sacrifice, devil worship and encouraged drug use, theft and murder? Not everyone agrees with the Christian way, would you want YOUR KIDS watching a morality story that didn't agree with YOUR MORALITY?

In today's America Christians are being persecuted in many ways. This is just one more example. These people will be the ones who won't understand "what went wrong" when God no longer blesses our nation. If it were the Muslims wanting to put on a play, no one would dare have an opinion that questioned its validity.

no, it's not fair, but this is what you get when you let a handful of Fundi "Christians" get their way.

they seem to have way more power than their not too large numbers would suggest.

your school is not doing its job as a PUBLIC school.

(i think it's a fun show, and you can't take it too seriously...)
