No. It's symbolic.
Diamonds represent financial security (not the same thing as materialism - it's more a safety issue) and dogs represent unquestioning loyalty.
Neither is materialistic. Both are about basic needs. Studies have shown that one of the biggest threats to female health and survival is poverty and one of the biggest threats to male health and survival is being alone. Therefore, the "best friends" arguably represent what each gender needs most for health and wellbeing.

Some times Randy seems not on the level in making comparison, kindly make it an apple to apple comparison to make it more heavy for choice. There seem to be a confusion on how to weigh it in the various opinions I've read. I consider it a big joke. Lady's its unfair to brand you Materialistic vs a Dog. Much to the indignity for a man to claim that a dog his best friend ...I agree just a loyal friend to both man and woman. Please don't misunderstood me nor by any of your fans....Though it is entertaining but seems for me sort of illogical comparison. Man has his human best friend if given a choice.
Better(I suppose) comparison: a car of X brand vs diamond of certain carat and cut.
A super rich D.O.M vs a Famous Handsome football player (professional in deed), a lawyer.
Given a yr to live in all riches can be enjoyed open for him or her in the world, open to all best willing most handsome or most beautiful ever you can see on the face of the earth vs Good health sufficient but not richly lifestyle with simple but loving family around and livable up to 65 year of age...no death and problem assured.
What is your choice Randy? is it fair equation?

Yeah. Generally more women are materialistic than men. Pretty sad how a dog is just as much of an accessory as a diamond ring thanks to Paris Hilton and Elle Woods.

I dont think so I think it makes them better investors. a diamond, is something that is can be paid off over a period of time and never decreases in value. a dog goes potty on your carpet, and costs a lot of money.
