does meditation really work? how would it help everyday life?

OMG yes. it has helped me so much. i used to be insecure, credit garnering, self centered, sensitive to criticism, concerned with what others thought, doing stupid things to get attention (at work and other places). Now i make more money, have a better job, have better relationship with my significant other (finally i have a great realtionship with the man of my dreams) plus i lost 80 pounds as a result of psychological improvements caused by meditation. so my health is better. it helps everyday life by helping you get closer to reality, it helps happiness every day by helping you get closer to the moment. it takes effort. it is not easy. it is a discipline, learning to focus your attention.

oh, i am no longer in debt, since it was my psychological problems (dependence on a man that wasn't good for me and spent all my money) of needing love that were causing my financial problems.

and lets face it, people are much more willing to invite me to a party now that i don't flash my boobs (to get attention). It helps you heal the psycholgical problems that are getting in your way, whether you can't forgive your parents, think you're not pretty or worthy or any problem you might have.

I'm a Hindu and I usually meditate in the early morning if I can. I start and finish by chanting "Om Namaha Shivaya" and end that why. Some people do use it to feel relaxed, you don't necessarily need to be religious to practice it.I use it to quiet my mind and to become at one with Shiva. I think it is a wonderful spiritual practice. There are many physical and psychological benefits from meditating. I recently read The Art of Meditation and it outlines the benefits, some of which are being less prone to stress and anxiety issues,it also decreases blood pressure and improves air flow to the lungs to name a few. I've only ever had one spiritual experience from meditating.I saw a figure sitting on a mountain and I quickly recognized him as Shiva. He came towards me and I noticed his third eye was open, but instead of his third eye opened of anger I noticed he was smiling. A ray of light came out of his eye and hit my forehead. I hope I could help you.

I like to do a combination of meditation and yoga. I do find it helps. It's very relaxing and it gives me a chance to let go of the days stress.

Meditation helped me realize just how much stress I am under at any given time. Once you are practiced, and you can find yourself at peace and feel what the REALLY feels like, it becomes much easier to realize when you are stressed so you can deal with whatever problems you are surrounded by.

To be able to meditate is to be able to engage in reflective mental exercise. It is a universal practice of intense focus on sound, or the breath; which in turn produces tranquility and a feeling of being centered, thereby bolstering confidence and improving health.

Apparently, it does for some. I tried it along with Yoga and I didn't have any luck. I wasn't able to disconnect from my thoughts. Give it a shot! You'll only know if you try. It's supposed to have calming and focusing qualities.

Its never worked for me, but to be fair I didn't give it much of a chance, I've known a few people that claim it does wonders for removing stress.

yes meditation is away to clean your mind... empty it and be in perfect harmony.
You feel much better afterwards... because you can re-order your thoughts
