Checklist

1. If your computer is at least running Windows 2000, keep it patched.
2. Does it run all the software you want to use ?

If it is the above two...and is reliable, why upgrade ? If you want, get a new monitor and keyboard for $160 you'll have a 19" LCD new keyboard and the same PC. The Internet does NOT run faster on an Intel Processor....forget the hype. It is a tool...if the tool is still good, why change it. If a new tool does things the old tool doesn't, then change it.

Faster video card to play newer games in better detail and speed.
Also, adding memory and speedier cpu will make everything much smoother and snappier, less waiting for every little click. A few seconds here and there adds up over the course of a few months.

I can think of none at all. If the computer is so out dated that it needs updating, it's time to buy a new computer.
