I have been a Mystery Shopper off and on for several years. It's boring and not worth the $1.00 to $5.00 that most shops pay.

Sometimes one gets a good Mystery Shop, such as a free breakfast, lunch or dinner. Sometimes, depending on the type of shop, the client will let you keep a purchase, if the assignment requires purchase of a product.

You'll probably be ok. Probably get a lot of spam mail and text messages. The secret shopper scam actually involves sending a shady bank check for you to deposit in your deposit and then "test the moneygram" department of a walmart or something by sending a % of the bank check amount to an account. Then the bank check bounces (after initially clearing because the law dictates that it must within 24 hours) and you're on the hook for all you spent "secret shopping" and for the money you wired to the account they gave you. Just don't trust any checks you receive unless you know exactly why you got them
