I personally think it's hypocritical for vegetarians to condemn people who eat meat as animal cruelty when they go around wearing leather, suede, drive cars with leather, and have leather furniture.
Shania Twain said she loves animal and doesn't want to eat them yet she and her husband Robert Mutt Lange have a sheep farm raising sheep for leather.
Shania Twain wears leather, and thinks it's cruel to eat.
If she and any other vegetarian felt that way, then they shouldn't leather, and suede because animals for leather and suede are the same animals for meat.
I'm not vegetarian, I eat meat, and I wear leather, however I don't wear fur because that is cruelty since the animals are trapped and skinned alive of their skins before they die.
Leather and suede is obtained by animals having their skins away after they're dead.
PETA's dominstrations are disgusting. One of them was actually licking out of a toilet bowl in front of everyone, another was acting like cat having to urinate.

I'm an animal lover & not a vegetarian, and I have to agree with you. I used to belong to PETA until they went too far over the edge. My shoes are mostly plastic & rubber, and my clothing is cotton or synthetic. I DO think the way animals are killed for meat should be changed. There is a more humane way. (Have you seen the videos taken inside a meat-packing plant?) Cattle are supposed to be "stunned" before they hang them up & slit their throats, and chickens are hung by their feet & blasted with scalding water while still alive to make the feathers easier to remove. They're not treated very well while alive, either, but I'm going on a rant now. Anyone who is interested can research it. While you're at it, see what the cosmetic & drug industries do.

I think that it may be hypocritical also... well not really... I don't eat animals and I love animals. But I wear leather shoes and and am a vegetarian... but while we are on the subject of hypocritical... I can think of no one that isn't. Funny, I'm sure that there are things that you do that I wouldn't agree with. However, it is unfortunate that you have a problem with the fact that I wear leather shoes. I also find it unfortunate that you have a problem with the leather in my wife's car. I even find it unfortunate that the football I throw, baseball I play with, basketball I shoot, or soccer ball I kick are leather. I find it unfortunate that the car I drive contributes to pollution and burning of fossil fuels. I guess that the only things that I can say are fortunate are that 100% of the energy I use in my house (electricity) is produced by windmills although it is more expensive, something that I bet you can't say, making you hypocritical in your own life by my standards, and the other thing that if fortunate is that I don't care what you think about how I live my life. I am a vegetarian for my own reasons, as I'm sure you are, and there is nothing in that reasoning that even considers you as a splinter's worth of a contributing factor. Have a good day and I hope you find a peace with your calling the kettle black.

PETA does have some disgusting demonstrations. You don't have to BE an animal to care about them. I think it's kind of weird...

Personally, I am a vegetarian.
I don't eat meat, gellatin, or fish.
I do however eat yoghurt and eggs
I'm not vegan.
I tried but I didn't go far.

I don't wear leather, fur, or suede.
I do think it's hypocritical.
Eating meat isn't the only animal cruelty.

I do to an extent. However, I do forgive them for shoes--there are some types of shoes that are only really made in leather, like riding boots. Anything outside of necessity, though, I do think is a bit hypocritical.

I have a friend who is vegan, but wears leather shoes. She buys them at Goodwill, so in a sense, she is recycling.
