On December 21, 2012, the moon phase will be "waxing gibbous", 9 days past the new moon.
A solar eclipse can only occur on a new moon, so the answer is NO. There will not be a solar eclipse on 12/21/2012.
It is a myth, and a mythtake.

This question is too vague to be clearly answered.
For starters, how do you define "the planets aligned" ? You probably mean all the planets being within some range of azimuthal angle as seen from the sun, but you could mean a geocentric conjunction. Either way, within what angle constitutes "alignment?"
The question looks astrological. Does "all the planets" include non-naked eye planets like Neptune and barely naked eye ones like Uranus, which traditionally were not a part of astrology? What about dwarf planets like Pluto? If Pluto, you have to include Eris and maybe Ceres and several other dwarf candidates.
In 2012, there There is a total eclipse on 11/13/2012 in the South Pacific, and an annular on May 20th in the north pacific, both dates rather far from 12/21.
Lets just look at the brightest ‘traditional’ planets, Mercury through Saturn.
On May 20th of that year, Mercury through Saturn are spread across 250ish degrees
On November 13 it is a little better…around 160 degrees. Wow…all the planets are on the same side of the sun. That can’t possibly happen more often than once every 20-30 years. Whoopee.
[Edit] Now I see the 12/21 reference..on that day Merc through Saturn are still ~180 degrees apart. What 'alignment' is it you refer to?

The ONLY total solar eclipse in 2012 is on November 13. It will only be visible in Australia, New Zealand, southern South America, and the southern Pacific.
The only planets that "align" from Earth's perspective in 2012 are Venus and Saturn on November 27 in the west. In the eastern sky Mars and Pluto will "align" the same day.
You need to read more about the Mayan calendar that is fueling all this misinformation. Maybe you can help stamp out the ignorance that is flooding Yahoo.

No.
There is no eclipse in December of 2012.
All the planets do not align during eclipses.
In fact, the planets never all line up in a straight line from the Sun outward. That is just nonsense!

an alignment of all the planets is so rare that i dont think i has ever happened in the history of earth. the most aligned it really gets is the "grand alignment" that happens every 20 years, its just were all 9 planets are generally in the same line, a 2 year old could tell you their not in a straight line, but the same side of the sun in a narrow area.
i dont think the planets have ever been in the exact same line, and it definitely wont happen in 2012, the next time the grand alignment will happen is around 2020, and it wont have any effects.

Oh I'm already planning to have an End of the World party and I'm not even joking, it's gonna be great. But seriously, I'm not afraid of dying and I can say that in full confidence because I have had the honor of thinking for a split second and truly believing that I would die and accepting it, just totally letting go. It changes your perspective. Oh and it does help to know where you're going.
