What do you think is "couple"? Most of the couple costumes they have at the store are sexual and I think stupid. Outlet sockets, hotdog and bun, etc.
Why don't you do a couple? as in a male and female costume. Period costumes are great. Togas, renaissance wear, pirates. Pimp n hoe. Gold digger and the Hugh Hefner smoking jacket. serial killer and victim.
A fairy tale--like Red Riding Hood and the wolf, April O-Neil and one of the Nina Turtles, Cinderella and Prince Charming, Beauty and the Beast.
Couples costumes tend to be rather expensive. If you make it yourself, its much easier and cheaper.
