Someone in my family recently was told they have stones in their gal bladder. The doctor said that they would have to be taken out eventually.

Then some friends told me about this remedy that softens the stones and causes them to pass the stones painlessly. You drink a cup of olive oil mixed with a cup of fresh squeezed lemon juice. They said they've tried it and it worked. Has anyone else tried it?

THIS WILL NOT WORK!
Many times Gallstones can be taken care of with out surgery to remove them. They have a laser procedure that blast the stones into very small particles and can be passed out of the body through the waste products. But this procedure depends on where in the Gallbladder that the stones are located. Sometimes surgery to remove them is the only way to go. But there are no home remedies for getting rid of Gallstones that work. Also things like citrus foods, dairy products etc.. can actually make things worse.
Your family member should go with the doctors advise.
Take care,

Kali_g: Are you sure about this? I have heard of the laser
treatments for kidney stones
but not for gallstones.
In any event, I will give the same answer as I have before.
If you are certain you have small stones that will go easily
through the bile duct, you
can usa a home remedy.
If, on the other hand this is a
larger stone, it may get caught
in the bile duct and you will
need emergency surgery which may be too late and is
very serious.
I also believe that removing
the entire gallbladder just to
get rid of the stones is excessive, but for now there
is no other way. I really hope
Kali_g is right. But for me, its
too late.

Vinegar, like from pickle juice, olive oil, and lemons all have some degree of acidity so they may all gradually help a gall stone, which yes, will eventually have to be removed, one way or another. Another way is by prevention of consuming excess salts from adding salt or eating a lot of salty foods such as cheese, salted nuts, crackers, hot dogs, lunch meats, canned vegetables, and frozen dinners.

the correct way to flush
for 5 days prior to flush, drink 12oz natural apple juice (not made from concentrate) each day

fast on day 6..water and apple juice only
late in the day 1 cup virgin olive oil with 1/2 cup classic coke (room temperature) mix and drink. It is not as bad as it sounds..

lie on right side 45 minutes....get about normal activities but don't go dancing

it works..malic acid in natural apple juice softens stones
olive oil expels.lemon wedge is to rub your lips or bite to remove oil taste

I've never tried it but my Dad did, and it didn't work for him. I had my galbladder taken out 2 years ago and the pain that those stones caused is the worst pain imaginable. It's not something I would wish upon my worst enemy.

Citric acid is one of the worst things you could take for gall stones! It could well make them really hurt. If the remedy was that simple ALL doctors would recomend it, but they tell you you must have surgery because thats the only way.

The gallstones must have been in the wrong place. The remedy given to you was for constipation or inducing labor.. This time the doctor is right.
