The answer is to take it down to the wood that way you dont make a mess but are housebound for a month before you can face the public .When my sister in law was getting married she asked my father for some unknown reason to cut some of her hair, now my father had never cut anyone,s hair before and his eyesight was not good so the end result was a terrible mess and a frantic series of telephone calls to try to find a hair stylist .

When I was 21 I had long hair down my back. A year later I went to the hairdressers & had it cut but the hairdresser made me look like a 12 year old. I had to have this horrible hairstyle for 10 months until it grew back into a style I liked. I never went back to that hairdressers again

My wife spent a lot of money on a haircut - and I mean a LOT of money.
It wasn't bad but I said I felt I could do it just as good next time and all it would cost her would be a cup of tea in bed the next day.
3 months later, after drinking 28 bottles of wine, she let me go to town on her hair with a pair of scissors.
I honestly thought I had done a good job - so long as you didn't look at her from the front but only one side at a time - but there's no pleasing the woman.
Have you got any idea how much I had to pay for her new wig that afternoon?
And did I get my cup of tea in bed?
Yes, I did.
Not in a cup - just in the bed . . . . . .

Yes many years ago so I did a hairdressing course and do it myself.I don't profess to actually be a hairdresser as new techniques are being taught all the time but I can do the basics and it's enough for what I need.

Yes, I not only have thought that, but I have gone back home, taken out some hair cutting shears and redone my hair. I cut my sons' hair for them.

yes... when i was a kid... unfortunately my mum was poor... and i didn't even have enough money for a haircut... so.. i tried myself..
i shouldn't have... looked like i'd put a bowl on my head.
luckily though, my mum took the hint and gave me some money to take myself off to the barbers... the looks i got though !!!
NEVER AGAIN...
well... except that now i just shave it all to within 3mm.. very easy to do about every 3 weeks.
