Ron Paul is the only Presidential candidate that reveres our Constitution? Honestly, I'm sick to death of it. To listen to his supporters we should think everyone else is out to use it for toilet paper.

Coy:
You don't know me so stop with the assumptions. I looked into Paul and think he's a nutjob. Just because someone doesn't like your guy doesn't make them "dumb." But flinging insults around does make people dumb - better get a grip on that childish tendency.

The Dude: I'll try to answer your rant point by point.

I think Ron Paul's a nutjob because I've listened to him and came to that conclusion. I neither find it necessary nor compelled to explain myself to you.

I'm not getting 2 points Flash, I asked the question, not answered it.

What truth can you possibly think bugs me? That he doesn't stand a chance in hell of being elected? That truth hardly bugs me, it's a relief. And if you think the "truth" means he's the only candidate who cares about the Constitution then I think you might be a bit delusional yourself.

Yes, there are plenty of questions and answers about other candidates. But Paul supporters have this penchant for acting like Paul is some kind of saint, and insulting people who don't agree with them, just as you did me in your answer. How typical.

This question was not trash talking. It's a legimate question pertaining to an attitude that is ridiculous from Paul supporters.

God only knows what point you were trying to make with that rant about money.

And what the hell is this:
"but your statements are only hillary is a man,or hillary is a commi, and bush is a nazi, bush is the devil, etc. etc. etc."
I've never said ANY of that. You've got me confused with someone else friend.

And hon, you can believe you are talking down to me, but you are hardly above me in any way. That's some ego you have there.

If I wanted to be the center of attention I would ask more questions than the one or two I manage every couple of weeks. Who are you to tell me I can't call Paul a nutjob? That's exactly what I believe the man is, and the last time I looked I still had the right to say so.

If you don't answer questions you don't like why did you bother with this one?

I'll tell you one big difference between Paul supporters and the rest of us. They are insufferably self-righteous about their candidate and whine and moan about the media endlessly.

Chsel:
That doesn't help much. Now his Internet people have taken to answering other questions about other candidates so they can pontificate about Ron Paul, even when it has nothing to do with the question asked. They have made themselves and their Paul proselytizing almost unavoidable.

Ya wanna know what it is ?. . .. . It's the type of supporters he attracts . People who think that they , and they alone have discovered this magical pot of gold at the end of the rainbow . That they are somehow enlightened to something apparently 96% of the rest of us cannot possibly grasp . It's so clear to them that it confounds them that us ignorant fools could be so degenerate as to not 'see' .

BTW , I just read a research study on what kind of people buy into conspiracy theories . . . . . . . . and the study describes exactly the same type of character traits and behavior .

Go figure .

Please name a few candidates who defends the Constitution like Ron Paul. Did they vote NO to the Iraq war? Did they vote NO to the Patriot Act? Did they try to stop the president from going to war without declaring it?

It is not just paying lip service to the constitution. Their voting record should back it up.

Now, about 95% not agreeing with his views - what does it matter to you? Why does it bother you so much if he is considered insignificant? Why do you make such a big deal if you think he has no chance of winning?

Perhaps his views are significant enough that it has to bother you. Perhaps you find his views 'inconvenient' and maybe it's bursting your little bubble.. Either way, I'm glad that you are irritated - it shows that no matter how hard you try to push him away, his ideas are not going to go away... because they are the ideas of the founding fathers - and you know it.

Oh, and you call him a nutjob.. can you back up your claim? How can a nutjob be a certified doctor? Or is it another way for you to brush away the inconvenient truth that he is a very intelligent and competent candidate who is actually better than the other candidates?

Show me another mainstream candidate who is as concerned with the integrity of our constitution as Ron Paul is, then show me their voting record, and tell me that one backs up the other. You can't do it, because the rest of them are concerned with two things: Themselves, and the special interests they serve. Everyone else IS trying to use the Constitution as toilet paper, especially the leading candidates, such as Hillary and Giuliani (and doubly so for Giuliani). Both of them are more of the same - They pander to anyone they want, depending on the prevailing political winds of the day. Personally, I think we need someone in office who operates inflexibly by a set of rules - The rules of the Constitution.

Abolish the IRS? Fine with me. That means, at the very least, no more income taxes, and where do you think the money that we are giving the government would go if they were no longer taking it? It would go directly back into the economy, which would create more jobs and lead to a more efficient and prosperous economy.

Abolish the Department of Education? Again, fine with me - The country is far too diverse to leave control over what children are taught in school to a centralized bureaucracy. Return control of the curriculum to the states, and allow people to move to and fro between the states which have the best education system, and you will create a more efficient, competitive educational system.

Some of his views, such as abolishing the FBI, CIA, and Dept of Homeland Security, I am not so sure I completely agree with, although they could certainly use a big downsizing - But remember, a President is not a power unto himself in our government. He cannot do these things without approval from both Congress and the Senate, so many of the things which he wants to do will probably never happen...

But therein lies the rub. At the very least, Ron Paul will get people talking. His views will facilitate debates and discussions over actions which could, in reality, have a huge effect on our country. Discussions of new ideas should NEVER be labeled as a bad thing - All they can do is facilitate change, and change is what the US needs right now, not more of the same self-interested, dishonest, pandering politicians which have, for too long, been controlling the direction of our country.

I'd have to agree with The Dude on this one, I understand the point that you are trying to make.. and I agree that some of the Paul supporters need to stick to addressing the issues, but you cannot stereotype. I have been nothing but civil with you in the past.. I realize it’s annoying at times, because it seems like some people are trying to shove their opinions down your throat.. but like I said.. there are many civil and informed posters here, just as there are stupid ones.. what can we do, the best I can offer you is to apologize for their behavior… as for you thinking Ron is a nut job, well that’s your opinion I guess lol… I read through your objections to him, and while I appreciate that you have looked into him somewhat, I really wish you wouldn’t latch onto misconceptions… or at least give Paul supporters a chance to clarify these things..
Anyways I understand where your coming from on this… but just try to keep an open mind to the ones, who aren’t that way

They addressed the issues you pointed out, if you want to take a look, this might give you better insight as to what he is really advocating.. thanks :)

Can't believe I'm saying this, but Ernest T 2.0 called it just right. That's my sense of the Ron Paul phenomenon in a nutshell.

I'm glad Ron Paul calls attention to the Constitution, because there certainly are people in our government who have shown that they don't know it very well. But for a lot of policy reasons, I don't support Ron Paul - and I take a backseat to absolutely no one in my reverence for the Constitution, especially given the history of the last 6 years.

Do any of the other Candidates revere our Constitution?

Our President, thinks its a goddamn piece of paper. Hillary would like to completely override state's rights and give the federal government powers that the Constitution strictly forbade, ie socialized healthcare. Rudy is Bush light. They all are jumping on the global warming bandwagon, which in the end game will establish draconian laws against corporations and individuals, orchastrated by the federal government, again an abuse of federal powers. There isn't one of them that stands completely for individual liberty, they all want to impose federal law that restricts our liberty. Most of them, ya know, signed the patriot act, at least the Senators.
You really have Romney, Kucinich, and Fred Thompson who haven't tried to increase federal powers and that is simply because they aren't federal legislators. Paul is the only guy we know for sure who's voting record can testify that he does in fact support our Constitution.

Not that I'm a Paul supporter but the guy does indeed care about our framing document, I'm not sure you can say that about the rest of them.

Then I keep getting those desires approximately infants and breastfeeding (perhaps its an indication!). ANd now my sister in regulation is approximately to have her infant and it makes me sick. She is such an irresponsible ungrateful individual. She truly needs a woman her 3 YO is a boy and this one is likewise. i in my view sense like she ought to in basic terms bypass away him at the back of on the scientific institution reason this is not what she needs. the different day we had lots of ice and snow and she or he sense flat on her abdomen and she or he's 6+ months alongside. My MIL had to rigidity her to bypass get checked by using her Dr. and she or he nevertheless did no longer bypass until day after immediately. I hate her for with the flexibility to have a sprint one that she would not fairly decide for and deff. would not deserve. because of the fact there are human beings available such as you who decide for/need to have a newborn and then she gets to have one. Well, "show me" how the candidate you support is a better choice? But then also allow debate. (i.e. Ron Paul and Hillary Clinton). I'll play.

I think he should get more air time. He seems to me to be more of a conservative then any of the other candidates. I like his bluntness, we need another "the buck stops here" President. Personally, I'm real tired of the same old political game in Washington. I'm ready for a drastic change in our government. Put Paul, Kucinich and Gravel all into high positions. They all seem to have the proper amount of contempt for the status quo that I posses. Our government failed us, is failing us and will continue to fail us as long as corporate America is buying legislation. We need some honesty and integrity in Washington, from both parties. Our government is corrupt to the core.
