It never was, though at times Al Qaeda has been the excuse used to justify the US presence there.

The primary battle ended on the last day of agressive action. The primary mission now is to provide a stable country for the citizens of Iraq. Really it is not any more complicated than that. The upside has been the Al Qiada that have been killed trying to kill us and the Iraqi people.

Nope.. heard a military strategist yesterday saying only 2% of the bombings in Iraq are caused by Al Queda. The rest are insurgents fighting for control.

You know, I'm over here in Iraq with nothing else better to do than, get on yahoo answers. That is when I'm not out getting blown up or shot at. I fight A LOT of al-queda here, and win. There's nothing sadder then seeing some of the kids here too that are casualties of war. But I've been one of many U.S. soldiers here that have helped out hundreds of families because they are so afraid of the terrorists that they cannot help themselves.
I'm on my 3rd deployment, and have seen much forward progress. Reconstructing Iraq is not an over night project. We Americans are spoiled with the convenience of getting whatever we want when we want it. With this culture here, everything takes time.
I feel that if you haven't FOUGHT over here....not just deployed, you do not actually have a clue about what's actually going on. The media here doesn't know their elbow from a hole a in the ground, and you shouldn't listen to them or what they say.
If you want to see some facts about whats going on over here check out

The primary battle in Iraq is for a democratic government. However, this obviously isnt going to happen without a civil war.The quicker the US gets out and lets them fight their fight, the better off we will be.

The primary goal in Iraq is a strong democratic government. AlQaeda has just been in the way of that goal.

I don't and never did... I already knew that Al-Quaeda was sunnite and I knew that Saddam and his government were shiite; anyone who opened a book about the Middle East would have known that these two groups can't co-exist together.
This administration took advantage of our collective ignorance about Middle Eastern politics.

Who's OBL ? Oh yeah that's right, he's that over in the Pak / Afghan border who directed a bunch of Al-Quaeda to fly planes into our buildlings. He's NOT in Iraq.

not me...if the main objective was a criminal or terrorist enterprise it would be approached in more of a law enforcement manner, not with enlisted troops. No, there's something sinister going on and I don't appreciate them sacrificing our people for their nefarious gains.

Seeing as how Al-Quaida terrorists are being slaughtered there, anyone who doesn't know it is an imbecile.
