Hi there! I just had all of my paperwork switched to a new hospital/doctor as well, and it really wasn't that big of a deal! I was not happy with my doctor either, and I called and they didn't even ask why I was switching, and on the paperwork for the switch I simply listed "personal reasons." The receptionists were very nice when I called, so I'm sure they help people all day long switch things over. Good luck!

I'm in the same boat as you. I am not 7 months but I'm 20 weeks so I'm getting there. I have been seeing this doctor at the hospital for no insurance because I found out my insurance didn't cover pregnancy and had to apply for benefits... Well this place gives me the creeps, there's homeless people outside/inside, always sick people in the halls laying down on the floor, babies screaming, and on top of that the doctor is kind of a jerk. One of the med students did a lot of my first appointment and put his hand on my leg, I freaked out, and then they never let me know anything I ask. It's the most awful place and I finally got approved for benefits and I'm going to call around Monday to find a new doctor... I cannot possibly live with myself if I deliver at this place... So yes you should switch if you have any reason not to want to be there, especially because this is a once in a lifetime thing, this baby will only be born one time, do it right... anything to put less stress on you, is the right choice.

This is what I would do! call the doctors office and tell them that you have found a doctor that better meets your requirements. The doctor is closer to your home...or you can simply just ask them to fax your file and don't tell them that you don't like your doctor!

You don't have to tell them why. Your files are your files. If you feel the need to explain, just settle for saying that you didn't think you and Dr. So and So were compatible and you found someone who you click with better.

A good doctor will not be offended by this. Sometimes, we just don't get along with people. And you really should when they may be getting elbow deep in your vagina and uterus.

You don't need to do anything...the office staff at the new doctors office will obtain your records (if needed) after you give them permission to do it. You do NOT need to give any reason for the switch, even if you would be the one to contact them. Just say I would like my medical records forwarded to doctor so & so...no need to explain anything. HOWEVER...unless your new doctor requests those records, you may not need to even get them. Some doctors prefer to start from scratch and do their own medical work up on new patients

They don't really care why you need your records send over, they are not stupid they already know why if you are having your records sent elsewhere. There is no need to explain your self to anyone.I did the same thing no questions asked. If they do then tell them the truth what are they going to do keep your records NO they cant do that.Good luck with your new DR. And congratulations on your baby. Im on # 3 here19 wks and growing.

I have switched doctors before and it always makes me uncomfortable too. Just tell the old doc that you have appreciated their service in the past but feel that your needs would be better served with this new doctor. if you still don't like that then you could always lie and tell them that your new insurance requires you to go to the new doctor *LOL* oh and don't be surprised if they charge you a fee for copying and sending your records (most do)

Tell them the truth as to why you are changing doctors. If you don't like the old doctor tell them. You will have to sgn release forms to get the information sent to the new doctor, but you can do that at he/she's office.

The secretaries really don't care why you are switching. If anyone asks just tell the truth. Perhaps your feedback can help improve the way the doctor acts towards his/her patients.

You don't have to give a reason. Ask to have your file sent over. You don't need to give them an explanation. If they ask for one, you can just tell them that this new doctor is just a better fit for you. This happens alllll the time. Don't worry about it. :)
