Rockies fans weren't quite but the Indians fans were just ridiculous. The Jake was rocking, just like the 90's.

Here's what I noticed:
Rockies attendance the last several years:
1997 3,888,453
1998 3,792,683
1999 3,235,833
2000 3,149,117
2001 3,168,579
2002 2,737,918
2003 2,334,085
2004 2,338,069
2005 1,915,586
2006 2,105,995
Indians attendance:
1997 3,404,750
1998 3,467,299
1999 3,468,436
2000 3,456,278
2001 3,182,523
2002 2,616,940
2003 1,730,002
2004 1,814,401
2005 1,973,185
2006 1,998,070
Cleveland drew more fan suport in 4 of the last 10 years (not including 2007, which I don't have data on).
Going back longer, the highest attendance for the Indians from 1960 to 1992 (the Indians losing years) was 1,471,805 and they had 22 seasons where attendance was below 1 million. When the Indians drafted sure-fire star Charles Nagy, the favorite trivia question in Northeast Ohio became:
"Charles Nagy was born May 5, 1967. The Indians had a home game that night. Name the fans."
At least they all had good parking spots.
And at least they had Herb Score broadcasting the games. He may not have been the best (in fact he didn't even come close), but he did give you the feeling you were listening to the game with a friend. He wasn't particularly smart and didn't always remember what city he was in, but at least he was smarter than Tommy John (John broadcast the minor league all-star game).
kk-killi makes an interesting point. Anybody old enough to be an Indians fans the last time they won the World Series?

You can't really base your judgement on how much louder one team's fans are by watching the games on TV. There are many different factors that would cause one to be louder and it's also your perception that makes a difference. And you can't say that Rockies fans are only fans when their on top. What about all those fans that have had season tickets for 10 years? I'm pretty sure that even when they were losing the stadium was never empty. Also, it's a little bit harder to be a die hard fan and make it to or watch all 162 games when your team has never even made it past the first round. The Indians have been to the world series many times AND won it a couple of times. It's much easier to have hope with a record like that.

I see your point, however, volume is not necessarily an indicator of devotion - I've heard some loud jerks at games that don't even know what's really going on.
Also, I am a devoted fan who sees most games from home and I don't yell at all there..............
I know your point is that Cleveland fans have been loyal for years waiting for this opportunity and that "suddenly" the Rockies have all kinds of fans - and there is some truth to that. Point taken............but I do love their story.........

i don't know if they are louder but at least the Rockies are bringing baseball to Colorado and in the long run it will be great for baseball to have an unknown team emerging

2 different networks, 2 different microphone settings, 2 different ballparks, 2 different altitudes.
Before you make comparisons like that, go to school and learn the effects to the Doppler Effect regarding sound and acoustics!
