Dress casual professional, and the punk cop hasn't told them anything, he only wrote you a ticket. Don't let your mouth overload anything, because if you want to impress, act like you have some brains. Don't go in with an attitude, because they see that every day, and everybody that comes in there is innocent, until they are proven quilty.

Dark suit, white shirt, dark tie, dark socks, shined dress shoes. I would also plan on a haircut.
I would avoid expressions like "dick officer" if you want to be taken seriously
Plan to take time to thoroughly research the law you are accused of breaking and make sure your witnesses, if any, are physically in court, dressed like you are.
You should bring any evidence you have in good order to court and have multiple copies. for instance pictures or diagrams.
You should write out most of what you plan to say, and it may not hurt to spend a day or two in traffic court prior to your date so you understand the process.
You will likely have the opportunity to question the officer directly and you should plan to do this in the most respectful way possible
Hope this is worth it

Unless you're willing to hire a lawyer to fight this for you, I'd suggest pleading guilty or "no lo". No matter how nice you dress, you're just going to anger the judge if you try to fight it. Traffic court is still "criminal", not civil. You will need hard evidence to prove your innocence. I once tried to fight a ticket for an outdated tag. Had the receipt. Judge wouldn't even listen. They always stand by the police officer. They have bigger problems to deal with.
You didn't say what you were cited for. If its DUI, or property damage, or somebody got hurt, you better have a lawyer.

No shirts or sweaters etc with prints or any sayings on them. Look well groomed and respectable. Casual pants, not jeans and either considering weather , a nice shirt long or short or sweater, or a golf shirt no logos or prints, front or back. Just look respectable, no runners. If you want a suite, or sports jacket.

dress casual, but not to casual. A suit is not required, but don't go in there sagging or with a goth look. There is different dress codes, one for guys and one for girls.
added. for whoever disagrees, debate it as an adult. A thumbs down does not change facts.

A suit if you have it, dark pants and nice shoes (not tennis shoes) and a crisp white shirt and tie would make a good impression too. Very understated and conservative. Good luck!

Wear a jacket and a tie, or a suit if possible. It will show the judge you respect his courtroom....
