In Co-operatives, are there shareholders involved or not?

Not .. at least not in the normal definition of Shareholder ..

It can be held that the members (or employees) are the 'Shareholders', however they pay nothing for their 'share', can't sell their 'share' and loose it when they leave the company ...however they DO get 'dividends' ..
