College minors?

I have a question about minors. Is it possible to take any minor, regardless of your major? Let's say I wanted to major in Music Businsess. Is it possible for me to minor in Anthropology?

In general, yes, but you need to check with your specific university. Academic programs are very different from place to place and sometimes have very arcane requirements about minors.

I've noticed that universities seem to be moving away from the concept of "minors" entirely. My current place of work does not have them.

I'm sure it depends on the school, and the best thing to do is simply find out what is required to have that particular major and that particular minor. For example find out if some of the classes cross over, or simply if you know you'll have the time to fulfill the credits. Talk to a guidance counselor...but BE CAREFUL!!

My guidance counselor my freshman year told me I couldn't be a Journalism and Communications Double Major. He didn't tell me why and just said I couldn't... well I could. I majored in Journalism with a concentration in Advertising and in Communications with a concentration in Production. Showed Him... you probably can too.

Yes, Anthropology is one of the best things you could minor in. It will give you a different appreciation for your major since you will be dealing with all types of people from different cultures. Good choice!

probably, much of it depends on how the courses line up when you are registering.

i was a business major with a biology minor. it was REALLY difficult to register since they are 2 different schools inside the university and bio had 4 hour labs. but it CAN be done. i did it.

would i recommend it? absolutely not unless you totally love the minor. not worth the work and frustraton otherwise. i had to take most of my business classes as night class, and had to make up 2 chemistry classes over the summer because they wouldn't fit otherwise.
