Here is the data:

x = 5 | 10 | 15 | 20 | 25
y= 8 | 13 | 18 | 23 | 28

what is the slope, and what is the y intercept of this data (supposed to be a table)

equation of straight line
(x - x1)/ (x1 - x2) = (y - y1)/(y1 - y2)

or (x - 5)/(5 - 10) = (y - 8)/(8 - 13)
or (x -5)/-5 = (y -8)/-5
or x -5 = y - 8
or y = x + 3

when x = 0, y = 3 ==> y intercept

Change in Y / Change in X = slope

(13-8) / (10-5) = 5/5 = 1

Slope = 1

y = x + b

8 = 5 + b

b = 3

b = y-intercept

y-intercept = 3

slope = (13-8)/(10-5) = 5/5=1
So y = x+b
8 = 5 + b so b= 3 = y - intercept

it makes it easier if you make an equation out of it. it looks like for every five you go in the x's, the y's go up five. because these are the same, your slope is one. so we have:

y=x+b where b is the y-intercept.

substitute in a set of values:

8=5+b

subtract five from both sides and b equals 3. your y-intercept is 3.

slope = m = (Y - y)/(X - x) = (10 - 5)/(13 - 8) = 5/5 = 1
Any two points would work, so long as they correspond to each other.

y = mx + b = x + b, b = ?
8 = 5 + b
b = 3.

y = x + 3.
