Fox News! wait.. no.. they aren't liberal... The Daily Show... wait... he makes fun of the Democrats almost as much as Bush..... ahh!! I know.. it's the New York Times!

But seriously.. I've never understood why this is an issue.. isn't it our responsibility as viewers and citizens to seek out truth in information? If the news is bias.. it's my opinion you have no one to blame but the viewers.

I don't.

Most major media organizations are owned by big business.

News organizations are always competing to have the first big breaking story. It's a competition, it's a business.

The media is covering the Democrats right now because the public is really interested in the Democratic field, because they want a change from Bush. Have you seen any more boring group than the Republican field?

During the period from 9/11 to the run up to the Iraq war, No major news organization dared to question the Bush Administration on anything for fear of being shut out of access or being called "unpatriotic." As a result of that, important questions weren't asked that could have possibly kept us out of the Iraq quagmire.

The major media wanted every sordid detail of the Lewinsky affair and the sham "Impeachment" circus, but no hard questions were asked of the Bush Administration in the run-up to war with Iraq. That is embarrassing.

Sure there is a bias. If it was just in the commentary sections it would be fine, but there is a deliberate desire to manipulate the reader/viewer.

At the start of the year the BBC finally admitted that it reports with a left wing bias...however, it didn't say that it was going to correct it.

The problem isn't so much that they are bias - more that they claim that there is none. I can enjoy reading say both the Guardian and the Telegraph, but only because I know from which point of view each is coming from!

It's not too much of a problem with the print media - especially since it's dying off - but the CNNs of the world and the other Alphabets (ABC/NBC/CBS).

I'm sorry, but I just have to answer this, even though I completely disagree with the "liberal bias" theory.

That study cons love to trot out has been thorougly debunked. In their so-called hunt for bias, they DIDN"T even measure the accuracy of the information given, nor did they spend much time considering how easy it was to discern the facts from the interpretation.

The media is overwhelmingly right wing.

Consider. If the media is SO left wing...why haven't they been asking Bush any really tough questions--say about his drinking history etc.

If the media is SO left wing, why did pretty much every channel available have an Al-Gore and John Kerry insultigasm?

If the media is SO left wing, why didn't they bother to truly investigate the swiftboat story, find out that it was clearly a hunk of baloney sauce with a side of bull refuse, and let it die the silent death it deserved? Instead they reported it as if it were truly a major controversy worthy of airtime.

There are watch dog groups that have substantiated a lot of bias in the media and most of it is liberal bias. Yes, the conservatives have their own biased media now, but for many years, that didn't exist. Conservative media is more of a recent event.

Excerpt:
ABC News political director Mark Halperin supports the concept of a liberal media bias, saying that as individuals most journalists, and news producers, hold liberal political views and that these views affect their reporting.

I don't... the truth is that if the media were consistently liberal then we wouldn't have so many stories on Britney Spears, Princess Diana and her kids, the missing McCann British kid... the truth is that they only report what they think will make them money.... I can find these stories on the E! Channel so why would CNN and NBC tell these stories? Because of commercial revenue. That's it.

News is a business NOT a idealogy.

Pardon the correction but it's the LIEberal media which is not to be confused with the liberals. The LIEberal media is out to sell it's news and they don't care who they hurt. You may or may not remember the song "Dirty Laundry". They love to make sparks and inflame people only to sell more of their lies. What's so sad is that there are so many people who actually believe their lies.

I do believe that the media is biased towards liberal viewpoints. The reason is that so many in the new business and in the entertainment business are...liberals. Many of them try to maintain impartiality, but some do not. Even the ones who try to remain objective act in a biased way by their choice of stories to report on. They just do not report certain types of stories, especially those that make minorities, women, or Muslims look bad.

And Hollywood is the worse. Look at all the TV shows and movies that have a liberal bias or that are just politically correct. Take the excellent show "Shark" starring James Woods. It has a liberal bias even though its star is not a liberal. They replaced one white male actor this year with a Latino male, now James Woods is the only white male star on the show! Political correctness and liberal values have ruined a perfectly good crime drama.

Because reality has a liberal bias. The media reports on said reality.

that is a good question. I sometimes put Fox News and CNN in two windows on my TV screen. It is interesting to see the contrast in what they choose to report and how they report it. I am not sure that a study has been done
