Most of them are scams. There are the small few that can and will make you money but finding them is tough. http://www.squidoo.com/typingathome/ has a lot of good information and programs that are legit. They also have a huge scam list so you can check up on programs. Seemed cool to me.

Mostly non-existent due to the Data Protection Act (which forbids a Company from revealing customers personal details to non-employees)
In most cases, data is entered at point of origination (best place to detect, correct and avoid errors).
Also, no sane Company is going to allow external access's to it's databases, especially not via the web .. and allowing data in via USB stock etc. is a recipe for virus/Trojan contamination of your systems.
