Saturday night and again last night I have woken up with an unbelievable pain in my mid section. I feels like my whole mid section is on fire and cramping up. It starts right under my rib cage and expands throughout my whole abdomine. Does anyone know what this might be? It lasts for approximatley 15 excruciating minutes and then it goes away. It is enough pain to wake me up and make me moan and groan in pain.

I don't know if it matters but I am 30 years old and of generally good health. I thought it could be an ulcer, but just a couple of weeks ago, I had a Colonoscopy done, wouldn't they have found the ulcer then?

a colonoscopy is to look at your colon.. they entered via your rectum....... what you need is an endoscopy.. they need to down via your mouth to look into your stomach.. sounds like an ulcer.. look into it before it perforates and it will be worse to treat.. i am going to have an endoscopy on the 30th.. i also have abdominal pain but not as bad as yours.....good luck!!

Colonoscopy will only show intestines..you need to have an upper GI series.. Drink this liquid and then they take x-rays of the stomach and upper GI tract.. It could be an ulcer, or many other things. This of course is not normal and you should go to a Gastrointestinal Specialist and have the complete work up.. Also blood tests etc.. Don't put it off.. Sounds like you are really suffering.. Good Luck..

A colonoscopy would not check your stomach for an ulcer. Have you had gallbladder problems? Maybe you need to talk with your doctor about an Upper GI series.

A colonoscopy does not look at the area where ulcers usually form, in the stomach, it looks only at the lower bowel. Sounds like gas, actually. It can leave you breathless. If it happens again, best check with your doc though.

It could be as simple as gas. It could be an ulcer but when I had mine it ached for hours at a time. If it's only on your right side it could be appendicitis. If the pain is not relieved by passing gas than you should consult an MD.

Ow! No idea, Riddler. But there are a number of important organs in that area that you will want a doctor to have a look at.

Good luck!
