For a very long time, the English medieval period was said to have started on 14th October 1066, when Duke William of Normandy invaded the Saxon kingdom of England. No end date has ever been universally agreed.
More recently, a new concept of "Medieval" has emerged among some archaeologists, who include the Saxon and Viking period and call it "early medieval". Still no end date has been identified.
Speaking for myself (and everyone has their own ideas on this), I stick to 1066 as the start date and give 1538 as the end date - this was the Dissolution of the monasteries in England, when the previous universal religion came to an abrupt end. It coincides with the end of castle building, the end of knights in armour in battle, the end of massed archery on the battlefield and many other "medieval" concepts.

I'm 61 and my husband is 55, my nephew is 32 and his girlfriend is 22 years old. They have 2 small children ages 2 and 4. The girlfriend is 9 months pregnant going in to have a C section March 8th. She called me last week and ask if I wanted to adopt the little girl she is carrying. I have a daughter who is 44 and a son who is 33. She doesn't want the baby she can't afford the two she has now. My husband and I are in a position to where we could take care of the baby. I'm all for it, I haven't said anything about this to my husband. Like you our kids are out of the house and to give up that freedom would be crazy to say the least. If I don't take the baby my sister who is the baby's grandmother said she would have to take it. She is helping take care of the other two kids she has no money and lives in the smallest house barely big enough for two people to live in. I live in a different state than my whole family which would help if I do decide to go through with this adoption. First how do I tell my husband (god I hope he doesn't read Q&A) I know he is going to blow his top just by me thinking about adopting another person's problems. That's how he thinks, I know if he saw the baby he would fall in love with it. The sheer shock is what I'm afraid of. So you see you're not alone.

Generally, the most widely recognised date of the end of antiquity is 476, the date of dethronization of the last empereor f the West Roman Imperium, Romulus "Augustulus" by Odoaker, the chief of the one of Longobardic offspring tribes. However, there are some alternative dates: 392 (I think:) - Theodosius The Great eventually baned pagan religion and established christianity as the only legal religion within the Roman Empire; or 395 - when the same emperer divided the Empire between his 2 sons: Honorius and Arcadius (such divisions had been practised before, but this one was to become final and permanent).
The end? alternative dates:
1492 - discovery of America by C.Columbus,
1440 - an invention of print in the Western world, by Gutenberg,
1458, the surrended of Constatinople, hence the end of the Byzantine Empire, a successor of the Eastern Roman Empire
I know the British name the early medieval period (5th - 11th century AC) the Dark Period, but I wanted to bring some continental perspective here:)

There is no absolute beginning or end to an era, there is a lot of overlap. To try to put precise dates on the Medieval and Renaissance periods is ridiculous.
The 12th century, for instance, was during what we call the Medieval, but there was a Renaissance of the 12th century which you can read about in a book

The exact times are hard to figure but an educated guess would be the time of the end of the Roman Empire and the dawning of the Renaissance in Italy

There's no EXCACT age, but I'd say about 50, since that is sort of the middle of your life.
