Just curious. I got my first hate mail yesterday...although I called the guy an a**hole in his question and probably deserved it.

Oh Jadis.. I was pretty rude. Well, the question was obnoxious and basically a baseless attack on Barak Obama. I'm all good with attacking someone's merits, but this wasn't like that. So I pretty much replied - "No, a**hole". I'm not usually like that, but I snapped. Then he sends me an email telling me to get out of his state and move back to Cali... LOL.

I've only gotten hate mail from one Yahoo poster -- the right-wing fanatic who calls himself "Dead Marxist" and has a picture of Che Guevarra with a slash through it on his avatar. He hates it when I say liberals and conservatives are the same to me, because I am a socialist.
In spite of the fact that in one of his psycho-rants he threatened to track me down, his whining is actually kind of amusing. It's pretty clear he's VERY young, and not too experienced in real life. I've fired back a few times, but I don't think I'm even going to bother in the future -- just stash his stuff in the trash along with the Viagra ads and "Enlarge your breasts" e-mails.

No, just from the guy that poses as a Yuma Federal Agent. Aside from that only a few other hate mails in the last 2 years.

Very little hate mail. Mostly just users wanting to debate my answer. The funniest hate mail comes from this guy who keeps wanting me to go fight in Iraq. He is undeterred by the fact that I am a 40 year old single mom. Where did that guy go, anyway?

90% of my mail from other users is civil, relevant and worthwhile. Occasionally the troll will email me, swearing and not making any sense, and of course they never respond. For the most part, I don't mind the correspondence so I keep my email address available.

on occasion... the political ones don't bother me at all. The funniest hate mail I got (and there were several from the same person) were from a teenybopper who told me to kill myself after I pointed out to her that she could use MySpace just as well at home as she could at school, that the wait to use it really wasn't that long, that she should pay attention to her schoolwork, and that firewalls were put on school computers against social networking for a reason, and she shouldn't try to obtain special codes from others in order to use MySpace at school... as she could get detentions for going against their rules.
Did that REALLY warrant a "go kill yourself"?
I should add... in all of her 6 or 7 messages, there was a "go kill yourself" somewhere in the midst of all the ranting... and a few instances of her calling me a b*tch. I got quite a few laughs out of those messages...
Kids are sooooo funny these days.

Never got any hate mail, or mail from yahoo peeps unless they were responding to an email I sent them

Lately I only get hate mail from an insecure child calling me a chickenhawk. Oh and he also insults my children. How classy huh?

Nah, not a lot. I get the occasional hate mail and it really doesn't bother me. I generally respond and am usually very congenial with the person who targets me.
