... because (as the libs say) most scientist subscribe to that theory, why isn't Creationism fact? Most people in the U.S. are Christians, and Christians subscribe to what the Bible says, and the Bible says God created everything.

Very simple - because there is no scientific evidence for Creationism. The fact that many non-experts believe something does not make it true.

The difference is that science proves that global warming is happening... creationism is only faith based.

We can prove that a man is a man and we can prove that a dog is not a man... we can not prove that God created the world. It is faith that dictates that so therefore it is a belief.

Science works on a completely different level. The earth is warming as proven by comparison of physical data... now, some scientists (a handful) "believe" that this is mainly caused by the sun but also accept that there is some factor of human consumption that contributes to it. More scientists "believe" that man's contribution to global warming far outweighs the sun's contribution.

Both sides admit that man has contributed... now the argument is over how much we have damaged it. Personally, I don't care. I will side with the side that says we are doing more damage to hedge my bets. If I'm wrong then so what. If I am right and do nothing then I am screwed and have hurt my children for my stubborness.

There are two kinds of "truth".

Received truth and discovered truth.

That God created the Earth is received truth. In fact, all revealed religions rely completely upon received truth. Most established religions have places where they absulutely disagree about what is "true". However only one of them can actually be true. Revealed truth is not testable. There are no experiments that can testify as to its correctness. Much conflict has occurred in the history of mankind over disagreements about revealed truth. We call this war. History is full of religions whose revealed truth was challenged by new observations from science. The sad reality of all this was that the religion often persecuted the scientist for the discovery. Remember Gallileo? He was lucky at least he wasn't killed.

Science concerns itself with discovered truth. You do not have to accept my word as a scientist that near the earth's surface objects accelerate in free-fall and that this acceleration is approximately 9.8m/sec/sec. You can actually set up an experiment and perform the measurements yourself. Thus you can DISCOVER FOR YOURSELF that objects near the earth accelerate in free-fall.

There have been no shooting wars between countries because their scientists disagreed. England did not go to war with Belgium because Lamaitre's Big Bang theory proved a better description of the origin of the universe than Hoyle's Steady State theory. The data supporting Lamaitre is just better; it is testable.

The earth is warming...that is a fact. The debate or "theory" if you will.....is ...what is the cause ? Human or nature ?

As for creationism.... that is neither fact or theory... it is philosophy based on ideology..

Also, the majority belief has nothing to do with the facts. Facts do not require belief, faith does. The majority of people thought the world was flat just a few hundred years ago...but that didn't make it true. The earth is round and always has been. Many people were killed for saying otherwise, by religious leaders in those days. Seems religion doesn't tend to care about what is true as much as it cares about what people are willing to believe.

Facts do not require belief.

Did that clear things up a bit ?

Because quite simply, the 'weight' of a theory (i.e. the number of people that believe in it, vs. the number that don't) has no bearing on the reality of that theory. You can't churn up support for something, call it true, end debate and say it's irrefutable fact. People once believed the Earth was flat, and that it was the center of the universe, and there was massive concensus and the powers it be tried to close debate. Fortunately the smart ones stuck right through it.

Global warming is the consensus of all climatologies and experts because every piece of data confirms the theory.

Evolution is the consensus of all experts and intelligent people because every piece of data confirms the theory.

Creationism isn't a fact because every piece of data disproves the theory. Creationism isn't even believed by most religious people, it is only believed by people on the extreme of one of the political parties. It is a product of a poor educational system in intellectually backward areas of the USA.

Consensus is NOT a substitute for reality checking.

Furthermore, check with your fellow Christians, most of us believe that the creation myth was indeed a myth, and all it does is give us the needed information that whatever his pace, time, and strategy, God did in fact create the world.

This is false correlation of the worst sort.

because science proves the whole "creationism" wrong. see, what we can prove is that more greenhouse gases are released from man, than not. and these gases can and do trap in heat and destroy the ozone.
creationism, on the other had, has never had any sort of valid reasoning. especially when we KNOW that the universe has been around for 14 billion years, we've been able to simulate the creation of planets and atmospheres.
and i don't know where you are living, but the whole "most of the U.S. population is christian" thing isn't exactly true. of any religion, yes, most people in the states consider themselves "christian". but if you take the entire population of the U.S., you would find that more people will admit to not practicing religion on a regular basis...

Sorry- but I fail to see the "connection" between Global Warming & Creationism. You're trying to compare a Reality with George Bush. They don't belong in the same Sentence together.

becuase just becuase most people in the US have faith in creationism doesnt mean it's true these scientist use something beter then faith FACTS

Faith: This word has been so terribly abused by "revealed" religions that it has come to really mean the suspension of an individual’s God-given reason in order to accept, or at least to tolerate, an unreasonable claim made by a "revealed" religion. It is the only way "revealed" religions can get people to accept such insane and unreasonable claims and ideas as original sin, walking on water, healing the sick without medical care, splitting the Red Sea, etc. Deists prefer to use the word "trust" instead of faith due to the twisted meaning the word "faith" has acquired after centuries of abuse from the "revealed" religions.
