Republicans believe that a free market can provide almost everything that a civilization needs in the most efficient manner possible, and the government should stay out of its way. Many republicans also believe in Social Darwinism, in which the poor, ill, and elderly should suffer the consequences of their condition without assistance as a way of strengthening society and serving as a example for others.

Democrats believe that unrestrained capitalism has caused great harm on society in the past and business needs to be held to responsibility by laws, much the same as people. They believe that because the disparity of power between a corporation, or great wealth, and an individual worker is so great, the government must protect the interests of the individual.

It is a current political strategy of republicans to call Democrats socialists or communists because they favor social spending...although that is not what socialism and communism means.
Communism means that the government owns the means of production in a nation and controls the economy.
In socialism only some of the businesses, such as airlines or energy companies, are owned by the government, while others are still privately owned.

The Democratic agenda is to save America from the Republicans who want to turn it into a theocratic police state.

Democrats tend to be liberals. Wealthy and powerful liberals believe that social programs to address the problems with capitalism will help save the system, and help protect their investments. Poor liberals are people who hope to benefit from social programs.

Republicans tend to be conservatives. Wealthy and powerful conservatives seem to believe that admitting that capitalism has ANY problems weakens the system. To protect the system that gives them their wealth, wealthy conservatives oppose most social programs. Poor conservatives are people who are tired of paying for the social programs.

Both parties serve big corporations, and hurt workers and small businesses.

We need a workers party!

Both are more concerned with lobbyist dollars, and to get elected, they can never speak the truth or the way things are. Democrats are to the left, republicans are to the right, and both parties encompass the extremists at their ends.

Their belief depends on what the voters want to hear. Politicians have no conscience, therefore no real beliefs.
