Yesterday, when my husband came home from work and greeted me with a big hug and loud hello, my unborn baby gave me a huge kick. I am 24-weeks pregnant and it is the biggest kick I have felt thus far. It actually took my breath away.

I told my husband that our son recognized his daddy’s voice, but my husband was skeptical. Do you think it is possible that the baby was responding to hearing his dad’s voice?

Deffinatly!! my boyfriend talked to our unborn daughter throughout my entire pregnancy. from about the time you felt your baby kick till I gave birth she would always move around and kick when he would talk and sing to her. We would always sing "twinkle, twinkle little star" to her before we went to bed. Im sure she could hear daddy better than me cuz he had his face right by her. The night she was born she was crying while they were weighing, taking her temp, giving her her vit K shot etc..and whenever her daddy whould get close to her and talk she would stop carying and look at him and intesly listen. I have video.it is so sweet. We also sang "Twinkle, twinkle" to her and she would always calm down. So she is 6 and 1/2 years old now and guess what her favorite song is? Yup. "Twinkle, twinkle little Star"..not sure if she knows why though:)

I believe so! A baby hears you speaking so why not his daddy... All 3 of my pregnancies my hubby spoke to my tummy they would kick and push in the direction of his voice. It was also a different feeling than when they were just moving around on their own. With My first son I Always fell asleep to The Princess Bride or Lord of the Rings when my son was 2 weeks old I put on the Princess Bride while I was feeding him he lifted his head and turned towards the TV, I thought if was just the noise but every time we put it on he would do this and as he got older he would wiggle around and smile even if he just heard it. So Yes I think Baby can recognize Daddy's voice. Tell him to keep it up, even if he feels silly conversing with the belly!

The same happens to me!!! Studies show that they can recognize mommys voice. But they cannot prove or disprove for daddy! I firmly believe they can! Mine can hear even when he comes in the door from walking the dog. At night when it is quiet you should make sure the baby is awake and have your hubby read the baby a book. You will know for sure when the little one comes out. Congrats

Yes, I think it's definitely possible, especially the mothers voice. But they say everything sounds muffled from within the womb, which i am sure it does, and how "they" would ever know this is beyond me. But it could also be that your baby was startled. But I truly believe they do recognize familiar voices and sounds. Congrats on your pregnancy and best wishes to you and your family.

Definitely! They love their daddys. I'm so glad too because it must feel like they are more involved - I'd hate to be experiencing it all and for my husband to have nothing. My baby kicks my husband in the face when he is down talking to it! It is the cutest thing!

They say its a medical fact that newborns know their parents by sound and smell and I have had 6 kids and find this to be true. They say they can hear in the womb outside voices. They must be muffled or like being underwater but they hear.
I find my kids in the womb had same sleep and awake pattern after birth as in the womb too. Newborns are so fascinating.

Absolutely!! My baby also does that! Whenever my husband is speaking directly to my belly or loud he starts kicking! Every night if my baby is not active i tell my husband to talk to him & he immediately starts jumping around! Last night it was so cute because my hubbie was asking him to kick ''A kick for daddy!'' & he kicked hard! We were both just staring & the sudden jump of my belly really made my husband's day! & mine of course!!

It is absolutely possible. And it's also absolutely possible that he was simply responding to all the sound and commotion.

Generally babies don't really start "hearing" daddy until 27 weeks, but each child does develop slightly differently.

His eardrums are completely developed now, so it may be...

Congratulations!!!

It can hear at this point so I don't see why it wouldn't be able to recognize the voice. Makes since to me. They say at birth your baby will recognize both of your voices.
