A smile, little wave, good morning or SOMETHING can make someone go from frumpy to friendly in an instant.

I greet everyone individually each morning. There are only 3 people so it's not a bother. If there were more than 5 I wouldn't bother as much. It's just plain courtesy and I think if you don't greet people each day they might think you're being rude and ignoring them for some crazy reason... workmates can be strange creatures so it's best to keep them assured of their worth to you so they don't pinch your stapler or ignore you when doing a coffee run.

I always say hello to everyone when I go to work, even the ones who have never acknowledged me in return. I think it shows manners and you never know you might just make someone's day a little brighter. Actually it's not just at work, anytime I come into close contact with some one I say hello.

It's very important to me. I'm extremely friendly (most of the time) and I speak, or nod, or smile, to everybody I meet. If I'm driving down the road, I raise my hand up from on top of the steering wheel and wave to the people I'm passing. That could be just the southern thing coming out of me.......not quite sure......but I do speak to people and it pisses me off when they don't speak back.
I mean, my God. How much effort does it take to smile at someone just to acknowledge their presence? Or to acknowledge that you heard them? People are so lazy nowadays. Makes me want to slap 'em.
***You just remember this Joe -- just as soon as you wake up in the mornings, think of me and I'll be smiling and speaking to you -- regardless of whether anybody else does or not throughout the day, okay?

It's important to me to greet people I'm passing by. If it ends up happening someday down the road that you need something from that person your passing in the hall, do you want them to remember you passing them without acknowledging their existence, or do you want them to remember that you were nice to them when you passed by them.

Yes, it is. I try to greet my co-workers every day, and I always greet my husband - going or coming.
