Because Switzerland is neutral, they don't have 786 military bases in 40 foreign countries, or a CIA, which meddles in other countries politics, or a Military, so pumped up, it has to go for pre-emptive strikes every now and then.

All able-bodied Swiss males over 18 are automatically members of the National Militia. All male heads of households who are members of the Militia are required to own a weapon and know how to use it. Switzerland is a very mountainous country with lots of deep valleys and mountain passes that would be an attackers nightmare, a defender's dream. Hitler considered all of this during WWII and decided to respect Swiss neutrality during WWII. Things like nuclear attack and carpet bombing IMO are over-rated. When all is said and done, you still have to put "boots on the ground" to conquer a country. Switzerland is probably one of the safest countries to live in these days.

Islam is the first religion to give Freedom of Speech, equal rights to men and women and it is the first and foremost to protect human rights. Islam respects all religion. Islam is not an enemy of anyone. There are some vested interests that malign Islam in the name of stopping terrorism. There is no relevance or history in Islam wherein Islam is considered as a dangerous religion. It is part of systematic media propaganda by anti-Islam people to bring bad name to Islam and its followers. In fact it is President Bush, who has done more harm to Islam than any other person in the history. He joined hands with anti-Islam elements to sow the seeds of hatred and in fact he has succeeded to a large extent. Today, even a immaculate Muslim is considered as a potential terrorist in the western world.
However, the present situation will definitely change and truth and better sense will prevail ultimately, Islam and Muslim will be respected worldwide. Because, false and malicious propaganda will not last for ever.

They hate us because we are an occupying force in Iraq, and we keep a standing military presence in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

Because Switzerland doesn't have any political clout. They are a small country, hidden away in the mountains.
At the moment they are not considered a threat, but if and when the other nations of the free world collapse, then rest assured they will be next.
We however are the 'guardians' of the free world. Title earned or not, they see us they see our television programs, and they see our movies, they see our way of life and believe it is being forced upon them.
Thus we are 'in their face' with our way of life. So they hate us for it. And strike back at the so called opressors.
