I can't really say any of the Saw movies are "scary," but if I had to pick one, it would be the first. Why? Because the idea behind the movie was still novel and fresh at that time, and left audiences with an unexpected "whaa!?!??" feeling at every twist and turn, and especially at the end. The others, although very good in their own right, seem to slightly suffer from the expectation of repetition in the eyes/mind of the viewer.

I've watched the first 3, and although there are a few jumpy bits and a few tense bits, they're more gross than scary I thought. I always said I'd never watch them, then I worked up the courage to watch the first one because there's an actress I like in the second one and I thought I should watch the first one first so I did, and I really enjoyed them. The first two are better than the third, but I'm afraid I don't know about the other three

Saw II. The first was very well made, yes, and the third was a little too gruesome in my opinion. I feel like the second is the best one of all of them, I don't know about "scary", though. It was good because the story took off and we felt like his message was a valid one (don't take your life for granted). I think in the third one we're losing the story and he's just doing this with no purpose... more because he's just sick in the head. Not sure if I'll be seeing the 4th in theatres.

The first was brilliant, but I have to say that the pit of hypodermic needles in Saw 2 creeped me out more than anything in any of the other two. Saw 3 was just ridiculous.

I thought Saw II was the scariest and most suspenseful. All of them were really good. But II was the best. :)

Saw I would be my choice.
What i enjoyed about Saw I was the innovative ways the writers created to kill people in their movie, the cinematography movements ( when they do those crazy angles), and the music...the music and the killings is what really made it a true horror movie. I will see SawIV and i can't wait!!!!

Saw III is pretty scary. It was the one that made me cringe the most. Wonderful movie...best horror movie in a while.

The first one was the best. It made me squirm the most. The second is next up and the third.... didn't even make me flinch. Hope the 4th takes it up a couple notches higher than the third.

Saw I because you don't really know the story in the first one and it is full of suspense. The others, you kind of have an idea of what is involved and what will happen.
