No, but in my city it will get you a fine for improper disposal of a known hazardous substance.

No offense; and others offer as good as I might.

First of all; apparently you're talking about Subterranians; often with nests as far away from a food source; as 40 ft.

I'll assume you know how tenacious a termite can be; especially in a colony of Hungry mouths.

I will agree to one thing however. Consider any company that exterminates; and compare them to most of what our society today purchases; often expecting a lifetime use. One might assume that "TOTAL" erradication; might just put a LOT of people OUT of work. Heck I'd eat wood for the cellulose; if I could remain healthy from the content.

Then there is the issue of the structure of your dwelling; and more importantly the DEPTH you might be able to pour the oil to; how much you have; how often you can pour; and eventually what affect it will have on plant life/ animal life/ water supplies/ possible fire hazzards/ etc.

With no real offense; I was being facetious; but "YIKES!"

Steven Wolf

Added note to David. No offense; remain calm. Consider that this; as many other Q's are; isn't quite so serious as it seems? I grant you however the scarey possibility that it is, and where does that eventually leave US as a Species?

What? You cant be serious.

Number one:

You are screwing up the environment and not following proper disposal of used oil. I have a feeling that you really don't care about the environment whatsoever, since you ask the question in the first place.

Number two:

What makes you think that termites care about motor oil. They eat wood not oil.

Number three:

What affect will pouring motor oil on the soil around your house have on the grass/flowers that you have. But then again you probably live out in the wild and don't have grass or flowers to be concerned with.

Number four:

By pouring motor oil into the soil what other insects or problems are you going to invite or have a problem with? Do you remember in grade school that you were taught that for every action there is an opposite reaction ... are you prepare for the unknown? Hummmm ... you might have a good argument here!

Here is a hint... call Orkin or one of the other insecticide companies to come out and spray for termites. You could also go to home depot or any hardware store and ask for a repellent that could be sprayed around your foundation to ward off these insects.

Motor Oil ... you have got to be kidding!

If you are planning to start on your woodworking project, this isn't something you should use, it's something that you would be insane not to. Go here https://tr.im/dkCUn
Truth is, I've been a carpenter for almost 36 years, and I haven't found anything like this for less than 10's of thousands of dollars.

used motor oil poured on, for example wood (old railroad ties), will help keep it from rotting. It acts as a perservative of sorts.

I'm sure it would keep all insects away. Every one claims environmental pollution (which it is) but do you really think those pesticides used by exterminators are good for the earth? NO.
