well there is "She works hard for the money" by Donna Summer...It's a powerful woman / working type song....but not so current.
The song the poster above is referring to is by Natasha Bedingfield, not Pink.

SAD or ROCK? Okay.. I'm now not certain on that. If through unhappy you imply.... gradual and sort of emo... Evanescence has tons of those, as good as rock, comparable to: Hello Like You My Immortal Your Star Missing All That I'm Living For Sweet Sacrifice Weight of the World Going Under The Veronicas: All I Have Heavily Broken In Another Life Someone Wake Me Up My Chemical Romance has tons of well rock songs, and so does Switchfoot.

I've got a few suggestions!
Respect - Aretha Franklin (I know it's now so current but very upbeat and exactly the point you're looking for!)
Independent Woman - Destiny's Child
I'm Every Woman - Chaka Khan
These Boots Are Made For Walkin' - Nancy Sinatra
Hopefully one of those will be what you are looking for. :-)

If you don't like Toxic.Emo's recommendation, then I have another Björk song for ya... Its called "It's in our hands" but it's a remix by a buddy and I have it on my phone.
In a nut shell, the part I think you'll like is the first 30 seconds. Kinda techno-ish and the vocals are, "Look no further..." (X3)
female of course...
I can email it to you in about 20 seconds. I'm jammin it right now so let me know soon... (skipsiphone@yahoo.com)

"I'm Every Woman" by Whitney Houston. I know it's not current, but it's the first thing that came to my mind.
To Lee T, the song you're thinking about is "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield.

None of these are very current, but maybe "Make it Happen" by Mariah Carey or "Invincible" by Pat Benatar. You said non-country, but "We Can" by Leanne Rimes is more pop than country, really.

What about that song that goes "feel the rain on your skin, no one can feel it for u" and it says "today is where your book begins the rest is still unwritten."
I think its by Pink but I'm not sure.

lee t - Natasha Beddingfield
Natasha Bedingfield - Unwritten
I am unwritten,
Can't read my mind
I'm undefined
I'm just beginning
The pen's in my hand
Ending unplanned
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words
That you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten, yeah
Oh, oh
I break tradition
Sometimes my tries
Are outside the lines, oh yeah yeah
We've been conditioned
To not make mistakes
But I can't live that way oh, oh
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words
That you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inner visions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live you life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten
(Gospel)
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words
That you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inner visions
Feel the rain on your skin
