Well, if your talking primaries, it depends if your state is an open or closed primary state. If its open, you can be an independent and vote for anyone you want. If it's closed, you can only vote if you are a member of that party.
In the general election next November, you can vote for whomever you want.

you can vote in the General election for a Republican or Democrat or independent
but in the primary, you can only vote your party - - so here - you cannot vote for a Democratic Clerk of the Court and a Republican Tax Collector - - -
only in the General election in November
unless you change your party to Republican - and probably has to be done more than 30 or 60 days before the election
all the best - V O T E !!!!

You can always vote for the candidate with an (R) behind his name in the general election in November 2008.
In the primaries, depending on the states, you can show up and ask for a Republican ballot.
You can also change your voter registration, if you desire, to that of the Republican party.

In most states, you have to register as a member of a particular party in order to vote in that party's primary. In a few states, you're allowed to vote in any primary. When it comes to the General Election, however, you can vote for anyone on the ballot.

What state? You probably can't vote in the Republican (or Democrat) primary if you do not have a party affiliation. During the general election you can vote for whomever you like.

Call state or federal voter information, sounds to me like it's the difference of voting in a primary or general election.

Its simple. Contact your local voter registration office and ask what you need to do to vote for a Republican in the state primary. You might not need to change anything! You just gotta find out!

you can vote for whatever you want once you're registed to vote. you're the independent voter who choose to listen and see what the candidates have to say. the independent voter doesn't vote blindly and i respect that dude. you want to vote republican, vote republican. want to vote democrat, then go for the democrats. you choose who you are voting for, don't forget that
