You CAN stop thinking. It takes discipline, but that's what meditation is all about. That's why people say a mantra over and over, or stare at a candle. The idea is to occupy your mind with something very simple, so it can't run off thinking about a hundred other things. It really leaves you feeling more at peace.

A lot of people think meditation is "deep thought" or whatever. It's just the opposite. It's maintaining the absence of thought. It takes work to get good at it, but it's worth it. When I was doing it, I was a happier person. I should take my own advice and get back to it. But like I said, it takes work, and I'm lazy.

theres so much chaos, sorrow endless worries that u wish u just stop everything, shut ur mind just blank for a moment...not die but ur still breathing. Oftentimes i would shut my eyes and cover my ears as if i can escape fr reality by doing so. Its different from sleeping cuz ur not dreaming...
but all i can do is wish if only it will come tru then i wouldnt be shouting to myself ENOUGHHHH as i cried.

Definitaly... try living with reduced latent inhibition... I'm constantly thinking about everything in my peripheral environment as well because my subconscience isn't very good at "filtering out" irrelevant information not to think about! So basically im always thinking of quite a few things at once... the best peace is in a pitch black room!

Yes! I have three kids and I homeschool them. So I am around the non stop questions and comments 24/7. I wouldn't change my job for the world, I love it, but sometimes I do just need those times of downtime for my brain. It gets tired of thinking.

Yes! I've often wondered what it would feel like to just have a literal peaceful moment of silence in my mind. I'm always thinking about something! It never seems to stop! I also think about taking yoga to get that peaceful state of mind.
