If you are doing an over view of Italy - you may want to consider a few days less in Rome and a few days more in Florence. Florence could be easily viewed as Florence city or Florence - Tuscany. I always encourage family and friends to stay in the countryside so that they can get a different feel of Italy and Italians. A vacation rental home, or an agriturism offers a wonderful opportunity to drive around and visit the smaller towns, markets, and do a little exploring on your own. Not to mention the fact that Tuscany offers a wide range of vineyards!

Look to your stars for an answer. If you are a CAPRIcorn the advice is leave Italy and go to England .There is a New Castle in the North East which has plenty of rooms to let.Alternatively go South and in London there is a beautiful Crystal Palace that would suit you.Still in London I know of a very pretty Swiss Cottage to let. If none of these are affordable you could rent a Barrow in Furness !

I haven't the Foggiast idea; but you haven't a Monopoli on the problem. Pisa advice though. In case you get Ravennas, pack some Bologna. Worst thing is when you need to take a Pistoia.
