Yeah I remember. I don't think they make em anymore cause stations like Lifetime have those types of things on all the time. And now there's so much reality TV that kids are seeing the real thing more often than not. And watching an after school program about bulimia/anorexia nervosa (for example) is useless cause they've heard their friend purging in the bathroom for six months, and they haven't eaten a whole meal in years. They know about heroin cause their neighbor OD'd last year.........
Dude, the egg and fry pan thing was NOT an after school special (try 'public service announcement'). That was just growing up in the Reagan "just say no" era. It had nothing to do with the pregnant teen, or the alcoholic parents, abusive BF.......

Yes...they were all the same:
-Anorexic teenage girls
-Sarah Wanting to commit suicide for not making the cheerleading squad
-Billy stole a video from Blockbuster
-Billy wasn't good enough to make the basketball team
-Sarah running away because daddy wouldn't get her a car.
Oh well...just turn on MTV...there's an individual show similar to all of the above on there!

Yes, I remember after school specials...I can't tell you what one of them was about, though!
I remember being pissed off because my shows weren't coming on. Whatever happened to the good cartoons anyway? Like Woody Woodpecker and Tom and Jerry????

I miss after school specials, they completed my afternoons, especially during the summer after school and I was all like " Make me some Crackers and cheese Mom! I'm learning about stuff I wanna try in the future!"

Yes, I remember that ****. I hate that crap on tv where they would show you the egg, "This is your brain" & then put it in the frying pan "This is your brain on drugs, any questions?"
Dude, I didn't say it was an after-school special, I just said that I hated it but thank you for thinking you needed to correct & make sure keep on knowing everything.

yea i remember this one about a girl who had a crush on a boy, but he had a crush on her friend so she tried to dress like, act like, and even smell like her friend and it backfired. she had to come to terms with the fact that she was fugly loser. kidding. anyways, i think the equivalent to after school specials now are the teen drama series like gossip girl or one tree hill or whatever the funk. only thing is that there aren't any lessons to be learned except how to be shallow, vain and self absorbed and easily drawn towards drama.

that was NEVER an afterschool special...
I remember the one about the woman that was a drunk driver and killed a girl on a bike and MANY years later her son began dating the dead girls sister.. and the sister didn't know until he brought her home to meet his mother... or maybe that was a movie... hmm
Now they are lifestories on HBO...

I remember!!!! I don't know if they still have them.... I learned to be responsible (not from the after school specials either!) and became an adult, so I'm at work after school now!! LOL...
Besides, now there's the Lifetime channel..... didn't that take over?
