If so, when? Did anyone record it?

Yeah, I saw steel magnolias too. It was a pretty good movie, but I thought the heavy hitter in that film was Sally Field. Am I wrong?

The Pelican Brief? Wasn't that Sandra Bullock in that movie? Could you tell if it wasn't? Same thing with Conspiracy Theroy

She had like 2 lines in Sleeping with the Enemy. You could have had a stiff pillow with a curly wig play that role.

I thought Dirty Dancing and Breakfast at Tiffany's and Gone with the Wind were the chick flicks of all time... I'd still put Sleepless in Seattle before PW.

I'm beginning to see a running trend that the strongest arguments for decent performances were when she was in supporting roles, does that strike anyone as odd?

Closer: everyone got an award but Julia. Confessions, haven't seen it. I know it bombed despite the crazy star power.

She's got a couple of those little golden statue things, so SOMEONE thought so.

The only movie I liked her in was Steel Magnolias -- and she died half way through it.

I guess we need to define "stellar" first. She has made some great contributions to cinema even if for all the wrong reasons. Pretty Woman might be the best example, It's actually the way she smiles and laughs that sells the movie. Being a popular star acting mostly in blockbusters she doesn't have the chance to get a real "impressive" role, keeping those limitations in sight, you could understand why she gets those checks. She is reliable, she'll sell the product. For a different view of her work, watch Closer or Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.

This is so funny. My friends and I were just discussing Julia Roberts yesterday. My one friend claims she is the highest paid actress---and then I started questioning WHY?

What has she done?
Maybe I am an anti-girl but she didn't MAKE pretty woman. I could've easily seen any other hot chick in there

Julia isnt hot. and she isnt a great actress and i dont get it.

It may not be stellar but Pretty Woman is the chick flick of all times.

No.

And like Nicole Kidman, I'll be damned if I can figure out how they keep getting work with multi million dollar pay cheques.

Didn't you see Erin Brockovitch? I thought she was outstanding in that film. Obviously, you didn't like Pretty Woman, did you?

I've yet to see it. I'm still wondering why anyone even likes her?
