"Pants" in the U.S. are what you guys would call "Trousers". Over here, "pants" are slacks, jeans, trousers, britches, or dungarees.
What you brits call "pants" are what we call underwear, underpants, nickers, panties, underbritches, or drawers (pronouced "draws").
While you guys where pants under your trousers, we would consider that to be redundant.
