The Cleveland Indians come into this Game 4 matchup with a 2-1 series lead over the Boston Red Sox, thanks to Monday night’s solid effort by starting pitcher Jake Westbrook in the Indians’ 4-2 win over Boston.

Tonight’s matchup between these two almost evenly matched teams, features two aging veteran starters that still know how to get the job done in Boston’s Tim Wakefield and Cleveland’s Paul Byrd.

Key Red Sox Trends

The Red Sox are 5-0 in Wakefield's last 5 starts on grass.
- The Red Sox are 7-1 in Wakefield's last 8 starts following a Quality Start in his last appearance.
- The Red Sox are 10-3 in Wakefield's last 13 starts after scoring 2 runs or less in their previous game.

Key Indians Trends

The Indians are 5-0 in Byrd's last 5 Tuesday starts.
- The Indians are 5-1 in Byrd's last 6 starts when their opponent scores 2 runs or less in their previous game.
- The Indians are 5-1 in Byrd's last 6 starts after allowing 2 runs or less in their previous game.

Key Totals Trends

The Over is 4-0 in Wakefield's last 4 starts vs. American League Central.
- The Over is 10-1 in Wakefield's last 11 starts on grass.
- The Over is 4-0 in Byrd's last 4 home starts vs. a team with a winning record.
- The Over is 7-1 in Byrd's last 8 home starts.

Key Head-to-Head Trends

- The Under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Cleveland.
- The Under is 4-1 in Wakefield's last 5 starts vs. Indians.
- The Red Sox are 9-4 in the last 13 meetings in Cleveland.

The Pitchers: Red Sox starting pitcher Tim Wakefield is 17-12 in 31 starts covering 189.0 innings. Wakefield has 110 strikeouts, 64 walks and an ERA of 4.76.

Indians starting pitcher Paul Byrd is 15-8 in 31 starts covering 192.1 innings. Byrd has 88 strikeouts, 28 walks and a 4.59 ERA.

Analysis: Maybe it’s me, but the Cleveland Indians all of a sudden look like the team with the more confidence – and more importantly – the stronger pitching staff.

With Wakefield and Byrd likely canceling each other out with respectable performances, this game could hinge on the performance of each team’s bullpen – and the timely hitting that has helped Cleveland to their one-game lead. While I think it is still a very real possibility that the Boston Red Sox will win this series, I have to go with the Cleveland Indians to win tonight’s contest and take a 3-1 lead back to Boston with the possibility of closing out the series in Game 5.

ok, they are definitely not our of it until the final out of the deciding game. I think that they proved that in the ALCS in 2004. The Red Sox are a trememdous team, and they have won games against the best other teams could throw at them. The last game should have been a win for the red sox, but they failed to cash in on numerous scoring chances. It is hard to win games when you score no runs with the bases loaded and nobody out. The red sox should bounce back well, with their two best pitchers in the regular season pitching the next two games. Wakefield is ready to make his mark on the playoffs, and he should. He is the heart of the red sox team, as he has been there forever. Beckett has been the ace of the league all year, and will certaintly continue pitching well. The red sox need to score runs. That is their only problem. Two runs just isn't going to do it. If they can score 4 or 5, they should be good... Just as long as Gagne doesnt pitch, in which case they are screwed no matter what. He is downright terrible.

No, they will not! The Indians and the Red Sox have used all their good pitchers against each other in the last 2 games and the Indians have come out on top. What are you expecting now, a last minute miracle?

i definitly believe you... manny took i think of around 15 drug checks for the period of his years with the pink sox, and handed all of them... i in my opinion dont think of he became into taking any sort of unlawful substance at the same time as he became into with the pink sox, and that i think of he began whilst he left boston... it basically is sensible... the checks dont lie now,, even however its against what i think of, shall we are saying manny became into taking banned components for the period of his years with the pink sox.... a million guy or woman doesnt equivalent an entire communities championship... the pink sox might desire to no longer have gained those international sequence with out something of the skills on the gang, so regardless, asserting that the pink sox 2 previous international sequence are tainted or regardless of is basically stupid additionally, seem in any respect the different steroid allegations on the yankees, and so on.... no person considers the international sequence that the yanks gained as being tainted because of the fact of it, so why could they think of the pink sox international sequence wins have been tainted, whilst no person has any form of info that he took for the period of his days with the pink sox

I hope not. It's more fun watching Boston fan gripping. Plus, I would rather see the Indian's win it. The NL doesn't have a chance against the AL.

They are only down 2-1 and they are a great team...I wouldn't count them out just yet...I picked them to win the whole thing from the beginning of the season and unless they get knocked out I am not backing down from that pick.
