How can a name say a lot about a person when we don't name ourselves? Is Apple Martin going to have a hard time finding a position?
I don't know if weird spellings make people look ignorant but silly, poorly conceived questions definitely do.
VWGirl - if this is truly a question and not a statement that reflects your own personal views, it may help for you to do an edit and change "doesn't" to "does." The "doesn't" implys that you're stating an opinion and looking for someone to concur.

Yes, I would hire these people. In the end I want someone who can do the job, I would not hire people based on social status. Actions speak louder than words and no, weird spellings does not make people appear ignorant or weird. The ignorant ones are those who judge others based off their name.
Lets not repeat this cycle of discrimination.

If the person was well-qualified for the job, yes, I would most definitely hire them. I don't pay attention to their names, but I have read studies where, sadly, people assume that a different spelling of a common name means the person him/herself is not detail-oriented or is prone to mistakes, and therefore not a good candidate for the job. It's a shame b/c the person didn't name himself. As for the name Angela, I absolutely love it since it happens to be my own name.

I'll take a second and maybe third look if I saw such names in an application form. No, weird spelling or names don't make me look ignorant; they make me more cautious.

I asked a similar question several months ago. The names I used were LaQuisha and LaTrika.
I'm all for being unique in naming your child, but most parents don't stop and think that that child will have to bear that name for the rest of their life.

your parents name you...it is not your fault if you have a wierd name or a different spelling...and if you are "hiring" someone based on their names, that is just plain stupid discrimination!!!! I just find it interesting if the spelling is different...not that it is ignorant...thatz just stupid! you have to have an open mind to accept different and new things!

when I was hiring people I couldn't care less about their names. was interested in their abilities and ability to produce for the company. wanted someone to work with and not for me.
